What type of GPA do I need to be a market research analyst or any market research jobs?

Higher the better

Slightly above average. Also depends on the college.

I’d say that these are the bare minimums

Elite privates unis 3.2+(HYPSW)
semi-elite privates(think USC, Vanderbilt) 3.3+
semi-elite publics(Berkeley, UCLA, UVA) 3.4+
well regarded publics(Other UCs, UGA, OSU) 3.5+

basically the lower you go, the more you must prove yourself. The irony is that a 3.3 is generally(but not always)harder to get at say UCSD or UCI than a 3.3is at USC or Vandy(there’s a reason you pay such high tuition).

I’d worry less about GPA and more about course of study. You want a degree that is heavy in statistics, economics and perhaps psychology and finance. Econometrics, Forecasting/Time Series Analysis, Sample Survey Methods, and Regression Analysis are quite useful, as well as some Design of Experiment (Conjoint Analysis or Discrete Choice Analysis). Having a strong handle at all of those topics will help you get your foot in the door of a market research firm.

Of course a GPA above 3.0 will help you get an internship.

Know people that’s all I’m going to tell you. You figure out the rest.
