I'm curious if any NYU freshmen or those who applied/were accepted can answer with their SAT scores. I know that the admissions process is insanely wackadoodle and randomly unpredictable, but what is the general SAT score needed to be accepted?

depends on the school within NYU you are applying to and also the major in which you want to apply for

in belief Stern requires the highest SAT scores, CAS second highest, Steinhardt and Gallatin third highest. that said, SAT scores aren’t the only thing on the application so admission chances are hard to tell.

I know that based on my grades, ECs, etc. I have a fairly good chance thus far of getting in, but I’m only a sophomore and just wondering what type of SAT score I should aim for.

sophomore year is still really early.
you’ve finished a year of high school. You don’t really know where you’ll be in two years when it’s time to apply. You also don’t know where NYU will be.

I understand that you’re excited, and I was the same way at your age, but nothing anyone tells you here can help you.

keep studying, find NYU’s SAT averages online (if you must), work hard, and come back in three semesters.

what SAT scores do you need to get into NYU CAS?

I doubt that it was your intent for it to come off this way, but that remark was a bit condescending.

i’m sorry you feel that way. it’s just true.
when i was a freshman i was sure i wanted to go to study musical theatre and be on Broadway, I am so far removed from that now. (about three (this is IT IT IT career paths.
) Most of my friend have totally changed what they wanted then and want now.

You should work hard in school and do things you’re interested in, and if in two years NYU is still your top choice (as it very well may be) you should apply and go there.

I’m not sure what their average is, but my 2080 was well within the middle 50% range, but not out of it. (although some of my section scores were)

I’m just saying that a whole lot can happen between now and then. You could do really well in school and end up wanting to go to Columbia or Yale instead, and you could find out that you’re not so fabulous at biology and would rather attend University of Your State. Work your hardest, and take up whatever interests you.
At this point that’s all you can do.

hahaha, I wish I’d listened when people told me to work my hardest. ;-)
