What was/is your High School Social Science sequence?

9: World Civ/Geography
10: US History
11: AP Euro (+ Psychology) (+ Sociology)
12: Government/Economics (+ AP Psychology)

9th Grade- Honors World History
10th Grade- Honors Civics and Econ (Can take AP World as elective if you want)
11th Grade- APUSH or Honors American 1 (Can take AP Gov if you want)
12th Grade- Honors American 2 (if needed) OR AP Gov OR AP World OR Honors Civil War and American West OR AP Euro

My class needs 4 SS credits

AP Psych doesnt count as social science and AP Human Geo counts as a science in my school

9: Regular Geography (no choice everyone takes it)
10: Regular World History (no weighted choice, everyone takes regular)
11: APUSH or regular USH
12. Gov/Econ or AP Gov/AP Econ (which AP Econ you get placed in is random, you can’t choose between Micro and Macro)

@ntk131998‌ I don’t understand why AP HuG would count as a science. What is their rational for doing that?

Required to graduate (by the county):
-0.5 Credit US Government
-0.5 Credit Economics
-1 Credit World History
-1 Credit US History

Most people do:
-Freshman: Geography
-Sophmore: World History
-Junior: US History

  • Senior: US Government (Half a year), and Economics (Half a year)

This is what I will do (as a nerd lol):
-Freshman: AP Human Geography
-Sophomore: AP World History
-Junior: AP US History
-Senior: AP US Government (in school), AP Macroeconomics (Online), and AP Microeconomics (Online)

Also, AP Euro and AP Psych are options as electives sophmore-senior year.

At my school:

9th: nothing
10th: World History (CP, H, or AP)
11th: US History (CP, H, or AP)
12th: US Gov (CP, H, or AP)

I took/am taking the highest possible:
9: Honors World Cultures
10: AP World History
11: AP US History
12: AP US Gov

What I took-
9th: Honors World Studies
10th: Economics, Psychology, and Current Social Issues
11th: US History and AP Psychology
12th: Constitutional Law and AP US Government

What was typical at my school-
9th: (Honors) World Studies
10th: Economics
11th: (AP) US History
12th: (Choose 2) AP US Government, Constitutional Law, Political Participation, (AP) Psychology

My plan:
9th: Geography (required)
10th: AP World
11th: APUSH
12th: AP Gov and AP Econ (choose 1, but I will use 1 of my electives to take the other so I can have both.)

9: Honors World History
10: AP Comparative Government
11: APUSH and AP Psychology
12: AP US Government, AP macro and microecon

We aren’t allowed to take a social science in ninth grade, not sure why.
In tenth grade, we have the option of taking either AP World History or regular World History.
In eleventh grade, we can take either AP US History or regular US History.
In twelfith grade we have the choice between AP US Government and AP Microeconomics or regular Gov and Econ.
In addition, there are optional social science classes- regular Psychology, AP Psych, Sociology, AP Art History, AP European History, Film and Society, and AP Comp Poli. We also have “Social Justice” and “Non-Western History” on our class sign up forms but I don’t think that either of those classes have ever run. Only Psychology and AP Psychology run every year, the rest usually only have enough interest to run every 2-3 years.

My school/state requires that we have to take four social studies, so here’s the least advanced and then the most advanced:

Least advanced:
9th: World History
10th: American History I
11th: American History II
12th: Civics and Economics

Most advanced:
8th: World History
9th: American History I honors (can do American II, if wanted)
10th: American History II honors or AP US History or another social studies elective
11th: AP US History or another social studies elective/or no social studies
12th: Civics and Economics honors

I did/doing:
8th: World History
9th: American History I honors
10th: American History II honors
11th: Psychology honors (this semester)
12th: Civics and Economics honors

It’s like a state regulation that we take civics and economics in 12th grade. I don’t know why, but there’s no way going around it at my school.

9th: ancient and modern world history
10th:none
11th: ap/ regular us history
12th: ap/regular microecon ; ap/regular American government

Extra ones I took: Ap Psych, Ap human geo, Honors sociology

We have to take World History, Personal Finance (semester long class), US history, and a semester of both Government and Econ. Here’s my social science sequence:

Freshman: World History
Sophomore: AP Human and Ancient history
Junior: APUSH
Senior: Gov’t and Econ (regular or dual…not sure yet) and AP World (they didn’t have this last year for me to take)

And to get ahead I’m taking personal finance over the summer. I don’t want to spend a semester in that class, I’m just doing it over the summer.

9th: AP Human Geo/Humanities
10th: AP World History/AP Eur History
11th: AP USH, AP Econ
12th: AP Gov

Old thread but
Freshman- Human Geography
Sophomore- World History
Junior- US History
Senior- Nothing (most kids take Psych though)

This is what I did. Keep in mind that I’m a big fan of the social sciences though.

Freshman: Honors World History
Sophomore: Honors US History
Junior: AP Econ, APUSH (they put me in it after AP World got cancelled; our school didn’t offer APUSH my sophomore year)
Senior: AP Gov

The standard for mine is:
9 - Can’t take SS course
10 - US History I
11 - US History II
12 - World Cultures

What I’m planning to do is:
10 - Honors US History I
11 - APUSH
12 - Honors World Cultures

For me:

9th: AP NSL
10th: APUSH (+ AP Micro and Macro)
11th: AP World (+ AP Psych)
12th: AP Euro

My school is kind of weird.

9th: no social science course available
10th: World History regular (no H or AP available)
11th: APUSH
12th: AP Micro and APUG
