I'm pretty ****ed to see my admission letter to be denied.
I am an IB Student with a 4.12 GPA weighted, 3.1 GPA unweighted.
I have an SAT score of 1600 - going to take it again, of course. I thought against it and postponed it to Nov 2 because I thought it would be just fine for ECU.
I have volunteered at my Sunday School for two years now, and mentioned that in my essay.
I'm a part of NHS, NAS, president of my MSA, and treasurer for ASL club through school.
Why wasn't I accepted? What was I lacking?

I forgot to mention I did do the essay. I got an email saying to link my account to Pirate Port, but completely forgot to do that. Could that be the reason?

A lot of people i know applied… And since u are slightly above average the fact that you did not do the essays, they prob thought u were not gonna go there even if accepted.

Someone please explain this to me…I’ve been on the verge of tears for a while now and I’m just confused. True, it isn’t my first choice, but it’s my safety school…what did I do wrong?

Although IB is rigorous, trust me I know I am in it. Your unweighted GPA and your sat is weak, But DON’T lose hope, redo the next SAT and apply to other schools.

You stand a better chance at a place where they have more holistic admissions; they probably went numerical and didn’t look at the fact you were in IB. After all, they have 15,000 applications… they don’t have time to look at them the way some smaller schools do, or the way private colleges choose to. Their top factors are #1 GPA and SAT score… (as per their CDS).
What major are you looking for? Because New College Florida would totally understand IB and they love OOS students (there’s even a special scholarship for them). Same thing at Harriet Wilkes Honors College (also in Florida, good if you want to go into Health.)
In Carolina, your IB profile would be most valued at UNC Asheville.
Outside of Carolina, can you see yourself going further North? Midwest? Pacific Northwest?
Some schools really value the IB curriculum.

You said you did the essays, but admit you never linked them to Pirate Port. Obviously they did not get the info (for one reason or another). ECU would have easily accepted those scores.
