What were your GPA, SAT, EC when you got admitted to Cal Poly SLO?

thisisKita: art at cal poly is pretty easy to get into. i know two girls there in art who absolutely love it! i don't know your stats.. but it's not that hard.

1] 2007

2] 2040 SAT (forgot the individual breakdown) no ACT, various APs (4s and 5s)

3] IB Diploma candidate, Hispanic?, dashing good looks

4] take the hardest classes you can get and do relatively well in them. also if you get in apply for on-campus housing as soon as it becomes available

Touring campus w/ my Jr. DDs on Thurs. It's a financial safety for us as well as a good fit academically for them. They are currently taking the most rigorous course offerings in their hs and have cumulative GPAs of 3.8 and 3.6 (currently unweighted as grades haven't come out for 1st sem yet and they are taking their first APs) My question...what SAT scores do they need to shoot for to improve their shot at being accepted into the Bio Major?

So pretty much in the past few weeks I've showed interest in going to Cal Poly for either Communications or Wine and Viticulture. I live in Houston, Texas so I'm a complete out-of-state kid. Junior in high school and pretty much make straight B's, a few A's here and there, and only one C in french once. The GPA scale is different here where-as the max is like a 7.00 and I have about a 5.33. I'm in the top 23% of my class. Extra-curriculars include 3-going on 4 years of Drama Club activity. Haven't taken either SAT or ACT yet but only made like a 141 on my PSAT. Would I have any chance at all of getting into Poly Cal?

Well, I apply for Cal Poly and I really really love that school!!!!!!!!!That school is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I know this guy that graduated from there and they just have really really good programs. I don't know if I can get into it or not though, because these schools sometimes looks for different things. I don't know what they look for perticular in Cal Poly, but I sure want it to be something I am good at because I really want to get into that school.

Rec Major! :D

See, you don't HAVE to be a brainiac to get into this school! But for some majors it will surely help.

do they send the decision notification through email? or do you need to sign up for the online account

If by online account you mean your cal poly e-mail, then I think they assign that to you when you first apply. I don't know if there's anything else you need to sign up for. As for notification, I first found out by logging into my.calpoly.edu and checking application status on the first day they notified. It said I had been conditionally accepted. And then about 2 days later I received a congratulatory e-mail and whatever. Then aboutttt a week later I received a letter.

The acceptance letter does come in a thin, regular envelope so RD hopefuls don't be discouraged if that's what arrives at your front door!

A lot of my friends kept checking their my.calpoly.edu application status and it still said it was being reviewed or whatever, and they found out a few days into the notification process or even a few weeks.

Good luck, good luck, good luck!!! :)
I hope this was somewhat helpful for you.

i got accepted early decision for 2008.

My major is history.
3.5 weighted, 3.31 CSU/UC GPA
1880 SAT (700 math, 630 critical reading, 550 writing)

coopaloop, do you have a facebook? if so, you should join my group for all fall 2008 students!

http://hs.facebook.com/group.php?gid=17588330124

it's small now, but it's slowly growing! :)

I am only a junior but I am very interested in electrical engineering at cal poly.
My CSU gpa is around 3.77
my PSAT scores were

Critical Reasoning 620
Math 690
writing skills 640

these scores are kinda old though and im doing sat prep and been getting 700ish on the practice tests.

I have been very actively involved in robotics, and worked as an intern at UC santa cruz in an autonomous systems lab.

What do you think?

and any recommendations?

Coopaloop, what were your extracurriculars? My GPA is the same but SAT is ~60 points higher.

danberman I think you have excellent chances. Especially if your math SAT scores end up even higher.

Can someone chance me as well?
GPA 3.4 CSU weighted, 3.5 W
SAT 1940 (CR 600, M 710, W 630)
Excellent EC's (international competition winner, national competition winner, sports, symphonies, work, 100+ community service)
A couple awards

makin it rain,

what major? your gpa is a little low for architecture or engineering, but it's fine for most of the others. cal poly doesn't look at the writing, so on their scale, you have a 1310 SAT which is reallyy good so i'd say you have a great chance.

I applied for business.

saabicia, I have a facebook. i wasn't planning on joining the cal poly network just yet. I'll join in like april or something when everyone else starts joining their college networks.

makin it rain, chances look good. I got in with basically that, 700 math 630 CR, but history not business. it probably doesn't matter history or business, there probably similar admission wise. My extracurriculars were good, 4 year vasity tennis, JSA, 100 service hours, but honestly i don't think any of it matters for cal poly. I don't see how it could, they don't even ask for it on the app.

Hey I'm in JSA too! :)
