wow i feel kind of intimidated applying for UW in two years after looking at most of the posts with crazy stats…

^I wouldn’t worry about it. from the other thread it looks like you are on the right track. just secure a good sat score and you’ll be fine.

ilikeuw- haha dont feel intimidated. first off, most people on CC are over achievers anyways and are the best of the best when it comes to applying to colleges. also, from the looks of things on this post (excluding compactrunner) i dont think anything looks really that intimidating, id say with a 3.5 and a 1900 sat you will be in for sure

bump

anyone else

3.34 UW GPA
1990 SAT
5 sports (don’t wanna list everything)
Lots of Volunteering

Ouch my ego. What year did you all get accepted in anyways? I see people with 3.9’s, AP everything, a hundred extra curricular and volunteer hours asking if they have a chance at this school. Uh… wow…

going to be a freshman in fall 2009 and got direct admit into the business school

honestly, IMO it all comes down to your essays. i know people that had like a 2.8 and got into UW. also, my extra curriculars aren’t all that great either. good luck!

GPA - 3.85 or so
SAT - 2330
National Science Bowl, various math competition awards (qualified for AIME, but not much nationally beyond that), Knowledge Bowl, etc.
4 years tennis
My essays were probably good

Oh yeah, 2 years of Running Start credit…enough to make me be listed as a Junior even though I’m now just joining as a freshman.

Basically, my college apps were for UW or Ivy-caliber (I didn’t get into the latter, probably because of my GPA and some senior year grades…kids, just make sure your senior year grades rock; that can make or break you, and in my case, I was broken). I definitely could have gotten into the tier of colleges below Ivy-caliber, but financial aid wouldn’t have been enough there. As I saw it, UW was about as good as those colleges, so there was no point in me applying anywhere else but Ivy-caliber and UW when considering financial aid.

Here are some unintimidating stats for you. I was wait listed at first but I got in and I am attending.

GPA: 3.2 (I’ll admit that I had a good upward trend. I had a cum GPA of 2.7 going into Junior year but I worked harder and received 3.7-3.9 for the rest of high school with AP/Honors)
ACT: 31
3 years of Track/Cross Country
10+ hours of work at a grocery store during the school year
Good Essay (I really believe that the essay matters a lot. Put all you’ve got into it.)
