What will be my chances ?

Hey, I am planning on applying to US colleges soon. I completed my 12th grade here in India with 93%. The only fault in my resume is that I did bad in my 11th grade. My 9th and 10th GPA are above 3.4 also I volunteer at a biology lab and 2 different hospitals and also at an old-age home. The reason for screwing up in 11th was because of one subject which made me depressed but I came back with a bang in my next year! What are te chances of me getting in, in any of the 8 Ivies ?

Plus I participated in a peace protest in my 12th grade

Forgot to mention. My SAT1 score is 2250 and SAT2 in chemistry physics and biology is 2200 also I gave TOFEL in which have received excellent marks.

All Ivy’s are reaches for everyone and even more so for International applicants. Other than applying, I cannot give you any advice other than consider a variety of schools not just the Ivy’s.

Do you feel that I would have a better chance at being accepted in another good college than the Iviea considering my 11th grade slip ?

Do you need financial aid or what can you afford each year? If your GPA is below a 3.8, I would say your chances are slim for the Ivy’s. I suggest you post in the International Thread where you would get some good suggestions on colleges based on your GPA, SAT and EC’s. I am not too knowledgeable about which schools would be a good match for an International student unless you are able to pay full price.

Chances are not looking good for ivies…Consider applying to schools like UW Madison, Texas A&M, and maybe Wake Forest. These are prestigious universities where I think you could gain admission. Best of luck

What about NYU or Duke or Johns-Hopkins or Ohio State Uni ? Or something like that ?

Duke is as selective as the Ivies; Johns Hopkins is only slightly less so. NYU depends on the division: Stern, for Business, is extremely selective. Ohio State is probably a good possibility. You have solid stats, but competition among international students, especially Asians, is brutal. You should cast a wide net. Do you want an urban campus (Pitt, Temple, American, George Washington, BU, Northeastern, et al are good options)? Warm or cold climate?

Any condition is fine as long as the university is great!
