Help

Hey, I am planning on applying to US colleges soon. I completed my 12th grade here in India with 93%. The only fault in my resume is that I did bad in my 11th grade. My 9th and 10th GPA are above 3.4 also I volunteer at a biology lab and 2 different hospitals and also at an old-age home. The reason for screwing up in 11th was because of one subject which made me depressed but I came back with a bang in my next year! What are te chances of me getting in, in any of the 8 Ivies ? Also my SAT1 score is 2250 and SAT2 scores are 2260 in chemistry biology and physics !

Zero.

  1. Simply not possible with that UW GPA

  2. Indians+International status=double hurdle.

  3. Why does it HAVE to be Ivy leagues? They are not monolith groups of colleges.
Also, from your another thread, NYU or Duke or Johns-Hopkins are reaches, too.

Unless:

You are an international level achieving student, which I assume you are not.
By the way, you have to list individual scores for SAT II.

So I should think about applying to other colleges ? Since I’ll have a better chance there ?

Wait…your GPA for Fresh/sophomore was 3.4?

What about your Junior/Senior GPA? And where did you get 3.4?

ZERO at ivies, unless you’ve cured cancer, solved world hunger, have olympic-level athletic prowess, or your parents own Tata. There are american students w perfect grades & perfect test scores who get rejected.

^ There are also American students that get accepted with not-perfect GPAs and not-perfect test scores.

OP, are you applying to any other schools besides the Ivies?

Yes, but they have something else to stand out. OP has mentioned nothing else but GPA & scores.

Exactly.

OP has very little to zero chances to top schools, ivy or not. I doubt top 40 are even in reach.

Top 100? maybe.

Isn’t University of Alabama in the top 100? I don’t know what OP’s cumulative GPA is, but the 2250 SAT likely meets the threshold for a full-tuition Presidential Scholarship. A minimum 3.5 GPA is required for the scholarship.

Oh yeah he WILL get, but scholarship won’t be an option for him.

Hope OP is a full pay student. We don’t know OP’s cumulative GPA though

What is cumulative GPA ?

Its average of your 4 years school grade.

it is 3.0

Did you convert your GPA on your own? Online converters aren’t usually accurate

Phulkit – will you be looking for financial aid? That’s a key issue. If you have the money ($30,000-$60,000 per year) then there are many schools which will let you in. If you need financial aid – it’ll be much, much harder.

Or impossible. I do not think that there is any school in US that will give you scholarship for 3.0GPA

^^^ with a 2250 SAT a school such as, for example, University of Montana or Montana State, might give him at least SOME money. (I happen to know they’re trying to recruit students and give scholarships to out-of-state/international students.)

Well how much can you pay?
There are schools in the USA have total COA under $20,000 per year.

Yean but are those worth money? What about the quality?

I agree with the other posters; you really should apply to some safety schools, otherwise, don’t complain if you see rejection letters from all eight Ivies. It’s fine to be a bit ambitious and apply to Ivies/MIT/Stanford, but admissions internationally is very competitive, and your GPA/SAT/other activities seem subpar. But before applying to all 8, you should do some research and see if you can see yourself fitting there. You don’t want to be accepted to an Ivy and then find yourself miserable there.
