I really need some help from my fellow CCers for some good, snappy yet polite remarks to nosy people who ask me where I got accepted to, especially those who somehow found out about my secret ambitions.

I would rather keep what colleges I got accepted to myself, because what college I got into doesn't define who I am.

Especially in the case of all rejections (Georgetown EA admit yay) come March 31st, any help?

I'm also interested in what you would say to them if you got accepted to your dream school... how nice that would be...

If they ask you where you got accepted, say, “I got accepted good universities.” If he asks you where exactly say, “I would love to tell you, but if I tell you, I’ll have to tell everyone else who asks me. And I don’t want to make a big deal of it.”

You’re kind of speaking out of both sides of your mouth. You say your college acceptances don’t define you (I agree), but it sounds like you’d be happy to tell if you got into your dream school but not if you didn’t. So, it defines you if you get good news? :)

Regardless, just say, “Sorry, I’m playing it close to the vest. The jury’s still out on lots of places.” Or something else that’s sufficiently vague.

“Where do you think I got accepted to?”
or “I got accepted into colleges I applied to”
or “I can’t recall as of the moment. Where’d you get into?”

If you will have your mind made up where you are going to go after finding out on
April 1, I would simply tell whoever asked that you got accepted to College X!

For things to say, what everyone else has been saying.

But if you really, truly believe that the colleges that reject you don’t define you, then you would have no problem telling people where you got rejected.

At my school the school newspaper at the end of the year posts everyone’s names and where they are going for college or if they aren’t going to college, what they will be doing next. If your school does this then just say I am going to _____ next year. Or if you don’t know where you will go say I am thinking about going to _____ or Many places, but I’m not sure where I may go.

Heah, if all else fails, lie. Say I got such great finaid package at school Y, and is a good school, I am going there. Its no one elses business.

Lying might be bad if you tell your close friends the truth and then they hear other things from people you lie to and correct it and then everyone is confused and you get busted.

Play twenty questions but instead of thinking of a college, think of raspberry pie. Believe me, once they figure it out they’ll be too annoyed to care about where you were accepted.

A lot of people I know make it clear in the days prior to letters that they will not be sharing their decisions until they are ready to. Setting that precedent saves you the hassle of talking about it later.
