What would colleges rather see- 1xxx level college corses or AP's?

For my senior year I will have the option of doing PSEO at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities which is basically a program where I can take some or all of my senior year classes at the U of M and the state pays for my tuition and books. The problem is, you are restricted to taking 1xxx level or intro classes. Would a college rather see a year of those or a lot of AP classes for my senior year? Taking the college classes may make me seem college ready, but all 1xxx level classes might make my courseload seem light.

Depends on what courses are available at the 1000 level.

Yeah depends a lot on the courses.

Often times APs are much higher level than 1000 but often it’s the other way around

Aren’t AP’s supposed to simulate introductory college courses? I mean those are the ones that you get out of taking if you score well on their respective exam…

But in any case, would a Physics 2401 and 2402 look impressive?

Usually it depends

I don’t think either would give you a significant advantage over the other

You can take higher than 1000 level courses as long as you are qualified in them for PSEO. Like, if you have already taken some AP courses, you can take the next course, which could be a 2000 level course.

The bigger thing to think about is whether you really want to be done with high school life. I guess it also depends on if you are doing part-time or full-time. Some of my friends who are doing it full time never ever set foot in our high school. Part-time lets you stay with high school life, but you end up spending a lot of time with transportation so you can’t do quite as many other things. This would be especially true if you live in the suburbs. And remember, driving to the U is really expensive because of the parking.

If you still have Ap courses to take at your school, I would stick with that as long as you don’t hate it or anything.

Yeah , your not restricted to 1xxx courses. One of mine friends is taking two 8xxx classes PSEO. With PSEO, you take less classes but they cover more stuff so that’s something to consider. So, if you have a good idea on what kind of stuff you might want to major in, it might be a good idea to do PSEO because the classes cover like twice as much stuff.

…how can it be “often” both ways?
