I saw a post like this in "College Life" and thought I'd bring it over here.

For all graduates (and others if you want), what do you wish you could change about the way you went through (or are going through) high school?

Personally I would be more ambitious. I would not have settled for second- or third-place like I have been doing.

Well I generally enjoyed my high school career. You now plenty of fun, good education, great friends, and all that comes with the territory. However, and this is weird, I really should have tried to sleep more though I don't really need rest, but yeah sleeping 4/5 hours a night is not the best way to go day to day.

I wish I had started school on time so that I could do more than 1 ec my freshman year. I didnt have a choice, but I started a month late and it screwed me

So now I've got one 4 year ec,
and two 3 year ec's

oh, and I wish I had talked to my la teacher about bumping up to honors. I think I'm getting bumped anyways since I had the highest grade in the class for the entire year.

I would put effort into my homework sooner than right before it's due,
I would get more involved in clubs,
I would want to take more electives but still never have room for them,
and I would be on time to school during junior year.

good thing I still have, oh, around 280 days until graduation..

i wouldn't have befriended the jerks my freshman...and my mom wishes i had gone to a regular school, she thinks it would have caused less emotional and physical stress.

i would've taken studying more seriously and started better studying/homework habits earlier

i would've quit year-round swimming earlier because it was basically a huge waste of time doing something I didn't enjoy at all when I could've gotten involved in other non-athletic ECs instead or even just more time studying.

but then again if i had quit swimming earlier i probably would've wondered 'what if' so i guess i was better off sticking with it till the bitter end, even if it was more painful

I would have joined track the instant I got cut from baseball freshman year instead of waiting until junior year. I would have done forensics at some point. I would have pressed my parents to let me drive around more during junior year. I would have kept up with photography club. I would have joined/formed a band and performed at Oasis (our spring and fall student battle of the band type thing).

Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing about high school. I generally enjoyed myself all four years and did well in school.

I'm only a senior, but man. I wish I had stuck with soccer since freshie year-- now I'm just too lazy to take up sports, not to mention I'm terribly out of shape now. I also wish I had made more friends my ownage earlier; that way I'd have some really really good old friends to celebrate my senior year with. Now all my best friends are off in Boston, Hawaii and Cali. :(

I would have calmed down and been a more settled person. I always felt like I didn't know what was going on socially or academically--if I just buckled down and did what I had to do then I would have been more successful. But overall I'm not terribly disappointed.
