What would you grade this SAT II Writing Essay?

<p>The prompt is: "In anicent Greece a 'hero' was a man who won glory on the field of battle. Since then, heroes have taken many shapes, from astronauts to Mother Theresa to just plain folks caught up in unusual circumstances. Who would be your nominee to be put in a Hall of Heroes? Your hero may be real or fictional, living or dead, and of any species, human or nonhuman.</p>

<p>In an essay, please explain the reasons for your choice."</p>

<p>My essay:
"There are many people who can be considered as heroes, because of the services they have provided to others. A person can be a hero because of what he or she does, or what he represents. My nominee to put in a Hall of Heroes would by my mother.</p>

<p>My mother has taken care of my sister and I and has nurtured us lovingly since the day we were born. She has taught me life lessons, such as the rewards of hard work and the importance of being fair towards others.</p>

<p>For the past few years, our family has stumbled upon financial troubles. In an effort to alleviate the hardships of paying our bills, my mother has been working overtime six days a week. He typical day consists of about ten hours of work, and when she comes home she insists upon taking on the cumbersome burden of cooking and cleaning. </p>

<p>Though my mother truly deserves a break, she has not given herself one and continues to serve my family as best she can. She is my hero because of her relentless passion and wisdom. As I embark upon the milestones of my life, I will always use the mentality of my mother to approach all obstacles with complete determination."</p>

<p>What grade would this be? How can I improve? I'm taking the SAT II Writing this Saturday!!!</p>

<p>I would grade that a 2 or 3.</p>

<p>I'd give it a 3 or a 4... Here is one of a few grammar mistakes: "My mother has taken care of my sister and I" Should be my sister and me.</p>
