list your selected major and the major you wish you picked instead and why.

wished major: chinese, the history is really interesting

well i went into college as an apparel merchandising major, didn't really like it that much but didn't know what else I could do. I stuck it out for 2 years but then I was like, I can't do this anymore. So I thought back and I really wanted to do something like history or sociology or something, and I came across anthropology. So that is what I changed my major to. I really like it, even though there's alot of reading and research writing (esp. for three anth classes at one time!) but I really enjoy everything I learn about now. I could not have cared less about types of stitches or sewing machine parts.

in the eighties i majored in Police science/Criminology until i realized that around here it is not what you know but who you know. i did a year and found that even the sheriff i worked for only had a ged. and some of my coworkers didn't even have that. i left college and went to work. i wish i had majored in what i am majoring in now. Secondary education history w/minor in business. although now, i wish i had majored in something with more mathematics. i was always scared of Math untill i got a few courses under my belt and found i kinda like it.

rangerbill, were you hoping to be a detective in the eighties?

I'm majoring in chemical engineering. I wish I did math/actuarial science/finance/accounting.

doing mechanical engineering technology, but....

i kind of i wish i were studying psychology, biochemistry, or biology.

I'm not sure why i picked engineering to begin with. I like cars, and that was about it. The more i see what real world engineering is as a job, the less and less i want to actually do it, although i wouldn't mind doing it at the end. I guess I was young and stupid when i decided my major.

I realized i had a few passions in science that wasn't engineering. I've always enjoyed astronomy, cosmology, and marine creatures. The problem was i didn't see these type of work being the normal run of the mill goto work, do some work, come home and take care of home stuff; so i ruled this out.

I've recently getting interested in psychology because it was something that I could apply to every person I interacted with, and thought was really neat. I would also feel like I'm making a difference in the world by trying to help people with their problems, and helping them improve their lives as well as mine.

Another thing I became interested in is biology and genetics. This too is something that i think i am contributing to society by researching and pushing forward the field of genetics and cloning. We have only barely begun this field. Who knows what we will be able to do after even just a couple decades of research. Growing new organs, custom genetically altering babies, curing terminal diseases, and stopping the aging process isn't as far as we think!

4321234 actually i had pretty low expectations i guess, i was aiming for highway patrol or a metro area. really didn't see myself as a super cop, i envisioned helping the public rather than making "busts".

Selected major: Film production

I don't want to change my major but there are other majors I wish I could take.

Other majors I wish I could take at the same time: Bio-Chem, Theology, Korean, Japanese, Psychology, Business

selected major: electrical engineering

wished major: environmental engineering

bottom line: i don't want to sit in a cubicle all day. i wan't to travel from mountain to mountain and i want to basically be on the move.. not sedentary.

selected major: Business

Wished major(s): English, Biology, Economics, Computer Science/Engineering, Political Science, History, Film/Acting......basically everything except business
Its very common for people to show interests in several diferent fields but i just feel i got to stick in and complete what i started to do.

thats how i feel. I'm mid way through my junior year, i feel it would be a waste if i just left it all behind and started new. I'll look into other fields after i graduate.

I'm in the same boat as krnpsychopath. I don't wish to major in something else, as I am quite happy, but there have always been other fields that peaked my interest.

Selected major: Civil Engineering
Other majors considered: Architecture, Urban Planning, Public Policy

Now: bioengineering
wished: chemical engineering or industrial engineering

Do you guys think majoring in something (i.e. business) that would get you a large salary (hopefully) is worth it if you don't enjoy what you're studying/ possibly won't enjoy the job?

I don't know what I'd want to study for 4 years. THere are some things I like more than others but nothing I don't think I'd get sick of studying and would give me confidence for when I graduate. So I'm kind of thinking, maybe I do business because it's great for the job market, and I'll take classes that interest me along the way but focus on business. But each day that I think about it, I really don't think I'd enjoy it and it might not be right for me but I don't think I can decide that until I start studying it. So I'm having a kind of dilemna right now.

selected major: premed/biology
intended/wished major: undeclared/econ? business? :/

major: international relations (music minor)

... relatively happy with that. Not too sure where I'm headed with it after graduation though

Darvit, Im in exactly the same situation your in and i too have absolutely no idea what i should go ahead doing...can anyone help us?

Now: Comm major
Wish: I'd kill to understand physics enough to major in it.

Current majors: Philosophy and History
Wish: Physics and Environmental Science.

I enjoy my majors, but I realize they are not my passion. My dream is to build a giant solar power plant.

Major: Biology

I should have majored in cheesefries, my favorite food.
