Whatcha Doin' - July 4th Weekend Edition

The fireworks around my house ended up being unexpectedly awesome last night. I had assumed there would be nothing much to see considering the local municipalities did theirs on the 3rd, but at least 6 families/groups must have gotten together and pooled their money to put on really nice shows - better than the municipalities - and most within a mile or two of us - three within a quarter mile. I could stand outside in the road and look all around me seeing gorgeous lights sparkling in the sky in all directions (and fireflies). They weren’t the typical home small ones. They were large.

I can’t fathom how much people spent TBH, but I enjoyed peeping in. It’s also a nice side effect knowing our state reaped a ton of tax dollars from it.

It also amazes me how many on here have pets who get freaked. Our cat was lying in the road beside me totally unfazed. Our ponies were grazing in their pasture also unfazed. I didn’t hear the neighbor’s donkeys braying or any dogs barking. Even wild rabbits were still eating by the roadside paying the most attention to my old cat.

I wonder what makes animals so different? I suppose it’s the same thing that makes humans so different - aka - no one really knows.

Still, for me it was a nice unexpected incredibly enjoyable evening.

I hope others had fun with their plans too.

Unfortunately, I spent the 4th at home with our cat. My wife and D are out touring college campuses for the next few weeks. I did make them a surprise dinner reservation at the top of the Four Seasons Baltimore Inner Harbor and they texted me lots of pics. They did see some fireworks in the distance but the big harbor fireworks did not happen this year.
