haha...your friendly ITA staff if not engaging in blitz marketing, but rather revealing the truth about our "non-major" college house so that future penn generations can realize our superiority:-)

While I agree with everything that my fellow Gregorians have posted, I feel that it is worth noting that there is a decidedly different social atmosphere in Gregory than in some of the other college houses, especially the quad. Gregory is definitely a quieter house, but that does not mean it's less social. But if one is looking for the more boistrous freshman experience (along with the more vigilant RAs who actually write you up), then the quad is definitely a better bet.

And in terms of Gregory having a convenient location, it's true that there are tons of frats, stores, and restaurants near by, but classes are a bit of a walk. Especially for anyone in engineering or other sciences who will have many classes in DRL (the fartherst point on campus from Gregory).

That being said, I'm not trying to be down on Gregory, just to paint an accurate picture of the pros and cons (there are decidedly few cons, but the lack of AC is the biggest in my opinion). Gregory's an awesome place and I hope plenty of new people come take advantage of it.

the way it was explained to me Gregory was filled with anti-social people...and foreign students

For me, one of the best aspects of living in Class of '25 has been meeting so many international students. Part of the reason I came to school here was for new experiences and cultural diversity is a big part of learning from and about ones peers. Why someone would say that the "foreign students" are a negative aspect of gregory is beyond me.

As for the "anti-social people", I guess that just depends on how you define sociability. Sure, the average person in Gregory values his space and personal time, but he also is involved in a ton of ECs and other things around campus. I've had tons of fun with other gregorians, we just balance it so that our work comes before play. If you find this "anti-social", just apply to the quad.

Dude, Richard, you're pretty anti-Gregory.

oohhhh, there ARE mice in the Quad, my friends living there have caught quite a few =)

but as long as you and your roommates keep your room clean, mice aren't typically an issue... and I suppose the high rises probably don't have as much of a rodent problem as the other houses

Yes, there are mice. I've had two this year, but the facilities staff are good about providing sticky traps that work very well at catching them. With regards to air conditioning, it's really only a major issue during move-in and for the first and last few weeks of the academic year. Bring a fan, and you'll be fine.

Richard - So foreign students are a bad thing?
