I always thought Bio was easy because it tells a story and everything logically goes together. It not so much memorizing as much as understanding some basic concepts and then applying them to various situations. And plus you can make so many connections so its much more easy to relate to.

ap bio is harder here but the class that is really harder is ap chem. ap chem is the class where you infinite opportunities to cheat legaly and illegaly without getting caught so an A is guaranteeed in it(not a 5 though )

AP Guam Physics.
killer!

"ap bio is harder here but the class that is really harder is ap chem. ap chem is the class where you infinite opportunities to cheat legaly and illegaly without getting caught so an A is guaranteeed in it(not a 5 though )"

How can you cheat in AP Chem?

ap bio for sure. Physics and chem are just math, but bio requires actual work :(

Bio is conceptually easy, but a TON of memorization. Chem is the exact opposite. For me, chem is more difficult.

I loved chem...it was really easy, sensible, and seemingly useful. This year, AP Bio is chocked full of useless information and gets really boring at times (ugh ecology). Microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, and neurology are all very interesting though. I'm the kind of person who tends to put in as little work as possible (especially now that I'm basically done with HS), so that could be the reason why I'm not enjoying much of bio. Problem with bio is that there are no shortcuts around spending countless hours of 'quality' time with your textbook (although you could also just settle for low grades, which is what I do now)...P.S. People who complain about the math in chem are inferior beings (LOL!).

legal:
take home tests
infinite bs extra credit
illegal:
pay friend to correct your papers

conclusion-teach is lazy/

chem was ezier for me...math stuff

bio is insane!!

labs and tests are our grade...no curves..just AP weight

teacher is amazing, but the tests are hard as balls and there are like always 5 labs due on 1 day...

plus, bio...it's all about memorizing the facts...

chem...know that ICE chart!

oh yeah in chem it was SO easy to cheat

AP Chem = hardest class i've ever taken

AP Chem...its so random and strange.....
[/quote]
lol exactly... its mad random. you can't really formulate any type of system to learn the material, because it seems like nothing relates to anything else.

compare that to AP Physics, where there are underlying concepts, for example "f=ma" or "P' = V, V' = A", that you can apply to everything.

and i don't know what you guys mean by "its all math" when you are referring to Chem. only a few topics we've done are math-related, and those are the parts that are basically from physics, stuff like photoelectric effect and enthalpy. memorizing 50 different types of synthesis, decomposition, redox, double replacement, single replacement, hydrolysis, electrolysis, esterificiation, etc reactions has nothing to do with math. its BS.

as you guys can see, i hate AP Chem...

^ Yeah I don't get that either. If AP Chem was all math I'd ace it with no problem because I'm awesome at math.

But I'm really struggling with the class (a lot of this is due to the teacher, although my lack of motivation to study on my own certainly doesn't help).

I hate AP Chem too. Luckily I won't have to take Chem in college.

For me, I think AP Chem was FAR easier than AP Bio. But that's probably because of how sciences are at my school. Because of our size, either AP Bio or AP Chem is offered each year. Freshman have to take Biology, sophomores have to take Chemistry or Honors Chem, and then in junior and senior years you can take the two APs. And then if you want to take physics and both APs, you have to double up on science eaither as a junior or senior. The way the years fell my classes were: biology, honors chem, AP Chem and physics, and then AP Bio senior year. So I found Chem a lot easier because I had two years in a row of it. Plus our bio teacher really sucks so that might be why it's so much harder

Chem is just harder conceptually. It's very difficult to understand.

lioness...your school's system is exactly like mine lol...i ended up taking physics and AP Bio this year and AP Chem least year

I agree with Ephemeral2. In Bio it is easier to relate things to each other. I find that AP Chem is much harder because you actually have to understand the concepts and apply them rather than just memorize facts. I'm pretty good at both math and memorizing, but AP Chem tests are much harder, in my opinion. At my school, Chem might be the hardest science class (followed by AP Physics) just because of the teacher. He's a great teacher but his tests are extremely difficult - harder than the AP. They say if you average in the 70's on his tests, you're guaranteed a 5 on the AP.

Taking AP Bio as a sophomore and its really easy. Lots of memorization though. Taking AP Chem next year. Hope its easier like everyone says.

I took AP Bio and AP Anatomy and I think they were easier than AP Chem and AP Physics.

AP Bio and AP Anatomy are both memorizing classes. You don't need to know how things work. Just make outlines and study/memorize. In my case, it worked into my advantage because I love memorizing and spitting it back out.

AP Chem and Physics require you to memorize the concepts and then you have to apply it. Which I suck at.

lioness I did exactly what you did lol

Maybe AP bio is only easier for the people who are better at memorizing. I suck at memorizing so I found Chem easier. How did you people memorize the kingdoms/classes/whatever stuff? They are all in Latin and are just random letters to me.
