Hey everyone,
I am a rising sophomore at Indiana University studying business in the Kelley School of Business and direct admit to the honors college. It’s an excellent business school and I really like it there. It occurred to me that is doesn’t hurt to try to upgrade and move somewhere in a region where I would want to work in the future or that can place all over the country. I like both the coasts somewhere in California or along the east coast as far down as like North Carolina. Could you try to suggest some schools that would be considered an upgrade in terms of placing in the business fields?
Stats:
State: CT

School Suggestions?
If no better program would be a viable option, let me know.
Have you considered internships with east or west coast companies. I’m from the mid Atlantic and I know some IU students who intern and work in this area over the summer. IU is an excellent school and it sounds like you are happy and doing well. Talk to your career center and see if their are opportunities to work outside IU. I think you will find that IU can offer you opportunities all over the country.
@123Mom456 Thanks for the input! I think that’s a good idea. I will definitely do that. With that said, I am still curious if there are schools out there that are academically stronger that I may have a shot of getting in. Perhaps some schools that I would not have been admitted to straight out of high school. I am in a win-win situation here. I like the school that I currently attend, but I also have an opportunity to attend an even better school. The worse case that could happen is that I apply to a set of schools and get rejected by all of them, but that just means I end back up at IU.
You could go for the long shots but just know going into it that they are long shots. UPenn has an overall transfer acceptance rate of under 10%. My guess is Wharton is even lower. The problem I see is that IU Kelley is pretty high up there in the rankings. (Bloomberg # 4, USNWR # 9, Poets & Quants # 7) As long as you understand the odds, if you want to apply I don’t see any harm. Do know that you are in a great school and will have opportunities after school all across the country. I’ve seen many graduates here in the mid Atlantic get jobs their dream jobs right out of school on the west coast. Also don’t underestimate the advantages of any relationships you have made where you are. When a professor needs to make a recommendation, do you want to be the new transfer that he/she doesn’t know or the student they have worked with for three years and has gotten to know.
