What's so great about UF anyway?

UF students, fans, alumni. This is your chance to convince a prospective 2012 freshman why he should forget UGA and Miami and go to Gainesville (that is, if I am excepted). So answer this: What so great about UF anyway?

Depends, are you in state? If so, there are a myriad of reasons.

-Cost: UF is a great deal and provides a great education for a killer price.
-Alumni base: Strong sports and the “Gator Nation” spirit make UF have a high endowment from donations and alumni base strength.
-Sports: Good sports teams can make a person proud to wear merchandise.
-Career placement: UF is consistently ranked as a top university with career services (and if you don’t plan on getting a job right away, work experience = good for MBA and other programs).
-Good for grad school: Low cost undergrad and respectable academics means you could get in to and pay for a top grad school program.
-Weather: Great weather in Florida! Not to mention beach-goers and pretty people.
-Spirit: Immense school spirit and lots of merchandise on such a well-kept campus.
-Extracurriculars: UF is so huge that so many extracurricular activities exist, including a strong student government program and a huge budget for student life.
-Research: UF is one of the top schools in country for undergrad research (by volume of work published).

UMiami is great if you’re willing to pay the money. Miami also has strong academics, but not the who “Gator Nation” thing (Which may seem stupid, but it helps with jobs and eventually you will go for it as well, it’s contagious).

UGA I do not know much about. I do know that the engineering at UGA as well as the finance and accounting there is not as good as at UF.

I live in Florida. Originally I was set on going out of state to a top school, but I realize now that UF is amazing for undergrad. I actually for some reason have spirit towards the school now. Not to mention it is an extremely good deal which will save me money in grad school or if I just want to have more money to invest.

Also, it should be “accepted”, not “excepted”.

I’d say the pretty devoted fanbase.

They’re quite psycho over UF (in an endearing way :P).

Wel first off they will teach you how to spell. accepted not excepted

OK all kidding aside. and this is for all the high school students out there. The #1 reason why you should go to U of F. Is that if you plan on liiving and working in the State of Florida after graduation. The network and connections provided to you just because you are a Florida Alum is priceless and will be with you for the rest of your life.

I could see why a Miami or Florida resident may want to go to UM. But Georgia you have got to be kidding WHY???

haha Well Im a GA resident, and UGA would be my fallback school (I hate UGA, but let’s keep that amongst us). And I dont know what I was thinking when writing “excepted”, more reason why I need UF I guess. I’ll be able to qualify for In-state tuition most likely (Natl Achievement Scholar, tentative). UF probably number one on my list. Ive never been there, but I hear it’s like the Hollywood of college towns. It’s almost like a dream, they get so many applicants it’s ridiculous. I dont think my friends would forgive me for going to UF though…anyways, I need to stop rambling. MORE RESPONSES PLEASE!!!

I took a tour. It’s a very nice campus. Not the same goosebump feel of Ivy campuses, but it’s very nice. Try [Welcome to YOUniversityTV, the College and Careers Portal](http://www.youniversitytv.com) and look up videos.
