I've shamelessly stolen the idea for this great thread from the other forum on CC.
Everyone (at my school at least) seems to be obsessed with this school. But just like any other university, it simply can't be flawless.
What is NOT so great about University of Florida?

it’s not FSU ;)

Thank GOD it isnt FSU.

it seems like advisers get like 20 weeks of vacation a year.
student government is an embarrassment.
football players get arrested more often than at most other schools.
dorm internet policies are among the most draconian in the country.
walking to class might take too long at least once in your 4 years here.
no disney land
if you live in the dorms, they work on the landscaping before noon frequently.
apartments near campus are kind of expensive (houses are pretty cheap)
dining halls are not as nice as other newer schools.

@aforautumn, how’s the food in the dining though? And how are the people? Thanks :)

Well, when I visited the campus, I visiting one of the dining rooms. I personally loved the food. Lots of choice, from veggie to meat-loving. And it tasted pretty good to me at least. (:

That’s good to know, thanks : )

Not so great: Parking—lack of it if you live off campus, you basically can’t park for classes on campus…gotta take the bus, or I recommend getting a scooter.
Also not so great: Residence Halls–most are very old. However, they are gradually being redone with new flooring, paint, new windows (Broward)…also there is new dorm furniture coming in. Some have no air conditioning—crazy in florida!—but are cheaper and are popular with international students and those looking to save money. Dorm life is pretty good, though. My S says his first year in Broward was the best year of this life so far :)

Agree above. Parking is not good. On game days cannot take the car to go out of campus because there will be no space left to park afterwards.

What can you guys say about the bathrooms/showers?

I know, I know…having a bathroom/shower down the hall seems like it can’t have an up side, right? But, the up side is that it kinda of forces you to meet the people on your dorm floor…you see more of the other people on your floor that way…try to be a little social and introduce yourself “Hey my name is Kyle and I live in the last room on the left”…and try to be outgoing and say something like,“Hey, a few of us are going to the Union to grab a bite to eat tonight, if you want to join us come on down to my room at around 7 pm” My S also kept his door open a lot and a lot of people just wandered down to play XBox. He had a great freshman year in Broward, and is now living with two of the guys he met in an off campus apartment. Tip: wear shower shoes/flip flops/slides in the showers and down the hallways…Bathrooms are cleaned daily in the dorms with communal bathrooms. Murphree has a sink in the rooms which is nice and also a privacy wall…

lets just say that since there were dedicated cleaning people in the dorms, my bathroom was cleaner on campus than it is currently off campus.
