<p>Me: I'd go with a liberal autocracy. Autocracies haven't worked well in the past. But that was the past. What about now, when humane treatment is valued? In an autocracy of today, I doubt that rule would pass on with bloodshed.</p>
<p>Democracy. I have had too many personal experience with the type of government that the kids in the US think works. First time in life I can go to bed without thinking some crazy crap might happen to me or someone I know.</p>

<p>Practically speaking, I'd go with a democratic republic as well.</p>
<p>On a theoretical level, though, I'd like to see a system where, in order to be allowed to vote, you'd have to be able to demonstrate that you were informed- if only at a basic level- about government and current events. I don't want the people who don't know a thing about the way our government works or about the state of the world to be picking our leaders. Given how little our country seems to know about the Constitution (see <a href="http://www.constitutioncenter.org/CitizenAction/CivicResearchResults/NCCNationalPoll/TheAnswers.shtml%5B/url%5D">http://www.constitutioncenter.org/CitizenAction/CivicResearchResults/NCCNationalPoll/TheAnswers.shtml</a> for evidence of that), I'd like to see a way to stop those who are completely uninformed from voting. Or, with any luck, perhaps such a system would finally provide an incentive for those people to become informed.</p>
<p>I recognize that this would probably be impossible to implement in practice, but just as an abstract concept I think it's worth considering.</p>

<p>As an advocator of capitalism I didn't quite agree with it, but Pure Deomcracy and Bureaucracy, that sounds like the American government.</p>
<p>I don't know what the best form of government is. But government that governs least, governs best. Whichever that one is.</p>
<p>I think an elightened despot would be good, but the despot would have to be in touch with the people, just, and willing to degeate tasks to people would would enforce and enlightened policy.</p>
<p>Oh yeah and the despot would have to be elected by a board of people from all walks of life that represents the best intrests of the people.</p>
<p>Although this form of government is very idealistic and wouldn't work in a real setting.</p>

<p>Practically, a capitalist democratic republic works best because it panders to human desires of greed best. A democratic republic allows for a society to elect the person they think will be giving them the most money and wealth and social status.</p>
<p>Socialism and capitalism are not forms of government, they are economic dogmas. I feel that multi-party democracies are best...although they can sometimes be annervingly inefective. As far as economic systems go, I like social capitalism (France, Netherlands, Scandinavia, Germany, Japan) best.</p>

Economic system - i'm a firm supporter of market capitalism and free trade. In a market system, people, not the government, decide demand and companies provide the supply to make profit. <p>Democratic centralism the pol sci term for it. In theory, the people were centrally represented. Since that is false, that is why it was in quotation marks.</p>
<p>The system is more effective since it avoids the debate in democracies. Am I saying that I like such a system? No. That doesn't change that it has merits, however.</p>

<p>Cassiodorus, you simply don't make sense! Democratic centralism is "effective" because it avoids debates? So this means getting things done = effectiveness. If that's the case, dictatorships are the most "effective" because they do whatever they want whenever they want with absolutely no time wasted.</p>
<p>Anyway.. democracy/democratic-republic is best with capitalism or socialism. :o)</p>
