So those are my two target schools for transfer. I heard the a lot of people at UCLA are pretty conceded, it’s hard to make friends because everyone is treated like competition. I heard that from a friend goes to UCLA. I was just wondering what the life style is at UCLA and UCB.
In terms of “everyone is treated like competition”, are you pre-med, or in a major where pre-med students are common?
Engineering major, my friend who told me is a psychology major.
When you have a demanding program, motivated students, and a grading curve, then, yes, you may find instances of less than collaborative behavior. Engineering and pre-med courses come to mind, but even then it might not be so bad as advertised. If no one made friends at these schools, they wouldn’t make it through. Will your friends be primarily engineering majors? Not necessarily. That’s the beauty of dorms and clubs and lower div classes: you meet people outside your immediate universe.
