what's the chance for a super ultra late UF applicant?

I'm a national achievement finalist who pretty much just applied to UF around April 3rd when I realized that most of my other school choices wouldn't give me as much money as I thought they would. This may be a stupid question, but am I completely screwed for housing? I just sent in my deposit today. ;_; I see that everyone else has been freaking out because they sent in their deposits in February and that freaks ME out. A lot.

I'm also worried that I won't have my admissions decision in time for May 1, when I have to tell most of my colleges whether I accept their admission or not. The letter they sent me did say that it wasn't too late to apply to UF, but I'm still wondering if I'm screwed housing-wise and decision-wise.

Oh, and I didn't send in a letter of recommendation because it said it was optional. I probably should have, especially because I'm applying so late. I don't know why I didn't. That was dumb. Buttttt do you think being national achievement would make that matter any less?
And I'm on spring break this week. Do you think I should even bother trying to send in a rec. letter next week (i'd priority mail it and i guess it would get there thursday or friday)?

:[ May 1st is getting closer and closer and I'm getting more and more anxious/stressed.

Wahwahwahhhhhhhhhhh sorry I'm whining to you guys.
Thanks in advance for any advice/help/insight?

99% sure u will get accepted they woudlnt have asked u to apply so late if they didnt want u

I would email Mike Powell at mtpowell@ufl.edu or call the admissions office and ask for him. Ask what the status of your application is. As twista stated, they most likely want you if they are asking you to apply. As for housing, its possible that you will get housing but more likely that you will get a temp or permanent triple or one of the non-AC dorms (which are not that bad).

Is national achievement similar to National Merit? That is a new one to me.

this all sounds wierd to me, never heard of a national achievement student what if the letter was meant to go out a long time ago but didn't? I dont think this person's chances of getting in are that high//just my opinion, but dont really get the situation.

its african-american national merit

I am surprised you two haven't heard of national achievement. Its given by the same people who give national merit.

The National Achievement Scholarship

In 1964, the National Achievement Scholarship program was initiated to recognize outstanding achievement among Black American high school students. Beginning with the publishing of test scores, the process for selecting winners of the National Achievement Scholarship works much the same way as the selection process for the National Merit Program.

A distinguished group
Statistically speaking, the numbers involved are much smaller, however. Of the 1.5 million students who take the PSAT/NMSQT each year, approximately 120,000 students compete for this award. 3,000 are honored by being included on a published list of high academic achievers — a list that is sent to 1,500 of the nation’s colleges and universities to assist in recruiting and recognizing students with high academic potential. However, these students do not receive the scholarship.

Of this group, 1,600 Semifinalists are selected by region, rather than state. Semifinalists represent the highest scoring program participants from a given region and will receive formal application materials. The competition for Finalist designation progresses in the same manner as it does for the National Merit scholarship. Once Finalists are identified, they're sent notice. (The school principal will be notified, too.)

More than just test scores
If you’re part of this group, your academic achievements, abilities, skills, and accomplishments are evaluated further and by spring of your senior year, the National Achievement Program will let you know if you’re one of approximately 800 students who will be awarded one of two types of National Achievement Scholarships:

* National Achievement $2,500 Scholarships
700 National Achievement Scholarships are awarded as single-payment scholarships. These are valued at $2,500 and awarded on a regional basis.

 • Corporate-sponsored Achievement Scholarship awards Approximately 100 corporate-sponsored awards are distributed to Finalists pursuing specific careers, who are either children of company employees, or who live in an area served by the sponsor. These scholarships may be renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study or may be one-time awards.
