So I finished my UF application and I was about to apply for On campus Housing because they recommend doing it now to get your prefered building and room or whatever ... but i have no idea which ones are better ... is anyone familiar with the better rooms or have any advice on which I should choose to put as my prefered? please help :D

The application for housing that you do now does not ask for preferences. That is done later. Go ahead and do the application now to establish your priority date.

I got this letter too.... Thing is, I dont know if I'll be going to UF. So should I do this??? I don't want to, but they make it seem like if I don't do it now, I WONT get a dorm. I'll be in the honors program. Do they have guaranteed housing for honors students??

If you don't do it now, you won't get a dorm.
True.

If you have any thought of going to UF, and want the option of living on campus, give them the $25. They aren't kidding. There aren't enough rooms for everyone, and with ALL the apps already in, you need that deposit in yesterday.

Take it from the mom whose first son missed the boat with this 4 years ago, ended up off campus, etc... (and he WAS in the honors program, FWIW).Give them the 25 bucks.

Per the UF housing website there are only about 7.000 total spaces available on campus.
That's 7,000 for 42,000 total students.
Do the math.

Most of my family has gone to UF, though I decided not to apply. My sister lived in Jennings for summer and Broward for the academic year last year. She loved her summer dorm (she lived on the ground floor) and met a lot of people. Broward was also her first choice for fall, as it is generally regarded as the most social. I'm also almost certain that it's the closest to the academic buildings (and there's a parking garage right there if you opt to bring a car!).

My other sister, who graduated a few years back, lived in Jennings for summer, I believe, and Batey for the academic year while she was a Freshman. She loved Jennings. However, I think she was less than enchanted with Batey, which is the apartment style housing. I think this is more due to the fact that her suitemates were kind of, for lack of a better word, disgusting, which could really happen in any dorm. My other sister knows someone living in Batey who loves it.

If you get honors, then I believe you get Hume, which is supposedly the nicest. If not, just choose whatever dorm fits your needs best.

Agree with mom2three. Many people end up at UF, even though they have aspiration to go to a higher ranked college. However, things happen (didn't get into the college they wanted or saw the financial burden they would face), so I would recommend paying the $25.
