What's the deal with lunch?

I plan on taking five AP's and a health class next year, which leaves a period free. Is it better that I take a one-period break or fill up my schedule with an elective I'm interested in?

Get someone of the opposite gender who also has the same free period...

never mind

Keep your lunch, especially with 5 APs.

Use lunch to start on your homework/ prepare for a test.

^ True. You need to eat. Without food, you can't funtion. If you can't funtion, forget about taking any AP classes.

Uhh? HOW THE HECK DO SCHOOLS LET YOU GET RID OF LUNCH?

You need lunch. End of story.

I've always eaten in one of my classes whenever I didn't have a lunch. It's not really a big deal, it's not like it takes a whole period to eat lunch. But it probably depends more on the person.

What's the deal with all these What's the deal threads?

Either way...keep lunch. It's a great time to socialize, eat, chill, and read a pokemon book.

I didn't have a lunch 10th grade. I had two studies, but they were both in periods when lunch wasn't available...

It was a pain, but I got through it. It was especially bad on Mondays when I had night school so I didn't get to eat until 6pm...

OP- If you have the option, keep your lunch.

Man, I do not understand some schools. You'd basically be going the entire school day without eating OR socializing. Do you wanna tell me how you expect to stay sane throughout the school year?

Uh, you can still eat and socialize even if you don't have a lunch.

I didn't have lunch this year (I had it the first three days of school, but then I switched out to a class), and it wasn't bad. I just found opportunities to eat my lunch in other classes.

Where do you guys live?

I think it's illegal for CA schools to deny lunch

Which is why it's so peculiar to me. I live in CA as well.

I live in upstate New York, and it's not terribly uncommon among high-caliber students. But I did it last year and I did always feel very stressed and fatigued.

i didn't have lunch 2nd semester of junior year. i had 1st period free instead, but lunch isn't served until 3rd period. but since the teachers at my school are so cool they let us eat packed lunches in class :). sometimes they even let me go to the cafeteria to buy lunch from the caf. at my school almost everyone has a lunch. however, if you're in the music program or take several APs there could be scheduling problems. therefore, it's up to the student to decide if they want lunch or not.

an uncrustable, crackers, and a drink could usually hold me over till 2:15.. somehow

If you felt stressed and fatigued skipping lunch last year then don't do it.

How can you even contemplate skipping a meal every day? Don't you have, like, a sport or something after school that requires you to be conscious?

Did you know there are kids in Princeton who ate lunch almost every day in high school? Crazy, I know, and such a huge waste of time, but they somehow made the cut.

Use lunch to socialize.

Call it "networking" if you don't want to feel like you're wasting time.

EHS, you've just made me laugh out loud. Thank you.
