Penn State. Of course, I applied to the one he is in. But I got in for the campus at Fayette since University Park was full. Is there any major difference between campuses? Because you’d think all the good professors are at the university’s main campus in University Park.
Most importantly, could I transfer to like Harrington after I’ve already been accepted?
That’s not really how it works. There are plenty of bad professors at UP and I imagine there are plenty of good ones at the other campuses too.
Do you mean Harrisburg? Hazleton?
Harrisburg, sorry.
If you want to start at Harrisburg instead of Fayette, you will need to call the admissions office and ask if that is possible. Harrisburg may already be full, but if there’s space left you may be permitted to switch.
There is a major difference between campuses. PSU Fayette is basically one building and is a local commuter campus. Harrisburg, Altoona, Behrend…they are their own full campuses of their own merit and they have dorms etc…Abington is also going to have dorms this year. Some of the commonwealth campuses are VERY small. Some are larger. PSU Fayette has less than 1000 students. PSU Altoona, Harrisburg, Behrend all have 4,000 +.
None of the commonwealth campuses are like the main campus in University Park for size, but some are more like typical college campuses than others. Altoona is the closest to the UP main campus and the easiest from which to be involved at UP. But PSU Behrend in Erie is an excellent Engineering school in it’s own right, etc…
There are Penn State quality professors at each campus and the degrees you work towards are the same. You can start at any campus and end at UP campus. It’s called the 2+2 program. As long as you aren’t in a direct entry major then you can do the 2+2.
