I have the book… haha

CTCL is a nice beginning point…

yea, idk, i got a 1890 on my sat

Too bad Roanoke is < 3,000 enrollment. It could be a match for you.
Likewise for Allegheny College at 2,100 enrollment.

Other, larger, safer schools could be…
UNC-W
Coastal Carolina
East Carolina

If price is the only thing preventing you from considering High Point, I suggest applying anyway. Sure, you might not get any aid. But, then again, maybe you will. You won’t know unless you try.

Oh! And don’t forget about your Maryland publics! Salisbury is probably a match and Frostburg a safety. (I know, I know. They’re Salisbury and Frostburg. But you gotta have at least one in-state school as a financial fall-back. You’ll be considered in-state for at least freshman year.)

I went to MontCo schools, too. But now live in another part of the state.

I feel bad by saying this, but i really really really cannot be at a school like coastal or ECU…

Thanks for the advice, but its not as much of a money issue anymore rather than a Where can i get into issue

Don’t feel bad saying that. It’s your life. Pick what you like.

Just brainstorming, here, so I’ll throw out 2 more ideas…

York College of Pennsylvania
Virginia Commonwealth U

And, chin up! You WILL get in to plenty of schools. You just have find the right batch for your apps.

I’d much rather go more south than that… remember I am class presdient for 4 years with a 3.15 and 3.7 w… i have a 1890 on sats

My d was accepted ED at Elon this year with a gradepoint in the low 3’s, and a 1910 SAT–she had varied EC and many long-term communitiy activities, plus strong in sports, student government, music & theater.
We are Midwestern, so that might have been interesting to Elon (geographically interesting?). Look at TCU or Trinity in Texas maybe–but we liked Elon better. SMU a good school (snobby rep for women), but harder to get into than Elon. I’d say that Emory is out for you with your gradepoint even if you get a 4.0 next year.

My son will be a junior at GW, and his friends at Rollins in Florida really like it. His best friend is happy with U of So. Carolina.

parents have bad view of rollins, donno why?

my friends who have visited USCC don’t like it

gotta love CC; isn’t pakjan6 starting Elon in the fall??

yea, as a leadership fellow nonetheless haha

What a difference a year makes… Congratulations on the hard work… You really made it pay off…

I would not give up on Elon. You probably will not get merit scholarship but might get in regualr decision. If you can apply ed that is your best bet at Elon. Try TCU in Texas - they give money and you are geographically diverse. ( outside Texas) also Chapman in Ca. Good luck!

Sorry I did not read entire thread!! Forget my remarks, congrats, and I will go heide!

Laughing with Texasmother… see your advice not to give up on Elon worked…

Just like magic, OK just like magic and hard work, but it worked just the same… I would take your advice any day… Welcome to the Woops club we have all been there.

rodney,
thank you. My sat score was at 1910… very low for the average fellow. My weighted GPA was like a 4.2, and unweighted like a 3.3. (1910 is the second time i took the sat and i never took the act) My trend is also important, ending with a 4.0 my junior year.

However, i am a 4 year class president of a 500 kid class. I have an extreme amount of community service and I also have volunteered with many political campaigns. In addition I worked for all 4 years of HS.

I think leadership fellows criteria, more then the other fellows, is a little bit more focused on what you’ve done compared to actual grades and scores.

I assume your daughter is a current junior. When you apply to be a fellow in january, you find out at the end of january if you are invited to the fellows weekend. That weekend is INTENSE. You are given one formal interview, a monitored group activity, a meet and greet and a essay, in a matter of 24 hours. I really thought my essay was awful, but still was accepted as a leadership fellow.

Number-wise it’s something like this
500 people apply to leadership fellows
100 are invited to the weekend
25 are given fellows positions
5 are put on fellows waitlist
and 5 are given scholarships

As a senior who has been accepted to college, I would advise you to not look to in depth into what schools give you as far as numbers, because they can be misleading. Take the SAT and ACT as many times as you can but don’t overwhelm your daughter.

Keep you head up and I’m sure you will find the perfect school for your daughter. Stay in touch and I’ll let you know what i think of Elon next fall. In fact, because i am a leadership fellow if you daughter is invited to the weekend, i will get to do a evaluation of your daughter. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

tx pakjan; i cleared my pm box but I see you figured this out anyway…keep us posted!!

Looks like I was wrong with my earlier post, so congrats. Nice to see a little more diversity coming, even with one student at a time.

haha i just read this entire thread & laughed at the end…Congratulations! Kinda jealous though, i got waitlisted haha :P
