<p>Heading to Elon with D for a visit and audition for musical theatre soon! We arrive at RDU around 4:30 pm on a thursday and are renting a car. Wondering what kind of traffic we will encounter heading in that direction. </p>

<p>Easy drive on I 40 west bound, about 1 hr , no real traffic jams to speak of.
Slim pickings on dining in Elon , assume you are staying in Burlington ?
Burlington has almost every imaginable chain restaurant , Applebees , Ruby Tuesday etc.</p>
<p>I enjoyed the Outback Steakhouse when I did the tour last year , avoid anything Italian.</p>
<p>Elon is a great campus.</p>

It was Italian and very good. (Not a chain restaurant like many of Burlington’s restaurants. )
I like the Town Table in Elon too but you might want to save that for Lunch.</p>
