Whats the Drug Scene Like at UT Austin?

I've looked around a lot of college related rating websites that somehow "gauge" how social or hardworking etc a school is. One example of this is the Princton Reviews rating that covers something like 20 areas of social and educational rankings. For example if someone is looking to see how smoothly a school runs the list features the top 20 schools that are deemed most efficient or in the Princeton Reviews case the schools that embody the saying "runs like butter" The opposite of this was "crime tape and long lines" I looked up the University of Texas under the drug section and it leaned towar "Reefer Madness" which means, according to them that drugs are very prevelent at UT. Just wondering if anyone else had any input or comments about this. I mean Austin is a liberal city so....

Its Austin TX

I dont know what you were expecting

I second the above comment.
But if you're worried you will be pressured into doing drugs, there are so many people that I'm sure you will be able to find others that don't do drugs.

There's also another scarier side to drugs which you probably see in the ivy-legaues, MITs, Stanfords(the pressure cookers). Think Adderall. That stuff probably gets abused more than weed does at UT!

Drugs are avoidable and peer pressure doesn't exist at UT. You can spend your time with drug users content with floating through college or you can hang out with students determined to do their very best. The latter know that using drugs can hurt their capacity and motivation.

I know plenty of drug users at UT who make excellent grades and are highly motivated.

They just like to let loose on the weekends.

^^^ So true

^^^ they all major in Philosophy and English

j/k (or am I)

it's not a big deal. all i do is smoke trees, and i still get straight A's

two microwaves, cook a brick at a time, thats my motto

Like most other places:

If you seek it out, you'll find it.
If you don't, unless you're (un)lucky you won't.

yeah but why do you think you ended up in hotel management shoe7525...
