What's the dumbest reason you applied/didn't apply to a school?

i didnt apply to dartmouth and mit because i didnt want to take any sat II....the application fees were waived too

sigh

oh and i put in an application via common app to transylvania and saw that they didnt have a fee waiver so i never finished the rest of my application. well about a month ago i received another application and scholarship application with the fee waived and i just completed it (past the deadline but hey they sent it to me past the deadline). well i just found out that if i would have put in my application online instead of sending it in via commonapp the application would have been waived anyway. i wasnt interested in the school at all at first but now i really really like it. i hope my apathy doesnt get my rejected...

oh wow as i read more i remember more.

um i didnt apply to any of the state schools because i knew everyone from my hs would be going there and i really dont want to spend another 4 years with them (i guess not a bad reason)

if i would have known washu's colors were green and red i would have been a bit turned off to applying...

I applied to Dartmouth, not only because I fell in love with it after learning about the school, but because of Keggy the Keg! And it was pretty cool that Meredith from Grey's Anatomy went there. (I like Grey's lol)

I applied to University of Portland because it was free with no essay!

On reverted's note: Half of my motivation to apply to Brown was that Elliot Reid (Scrubs' gorgeous Sarah Chalke) went there.

Zamzam: She's hilarious. Love her. Scrubs is a good show too.

Agreed a thousand times over.

On-topic: I almost didn't apply to Tufts because people who go there are Jumbos. (I'm slightly sensitive about my weight, despite being rather skinny.) Fortunately, I fought my initial response, and now it's my top choice. I hope I get in.

I applied to JMU because the girls on the website were ridiculously cute.

haha here it goes:

didnt apply to tufts becuase the name sounds lulz

didnt apply to any ivies because i figured my grades wernt good enough and if i wanted to apply transfer id have a better shot.

applied to vandy because of the hotness reputation

applied to jhu because i thought i was applying to few schools.

-i didn't apply to princeton because it's in NJ
-i applied to IUP because i'm a triple legacy :/ (so, i thought i'd more than likely get in)
-i didn't apply to vassar because when i visited, it was too cold and the people were too liberal

there is a hot girl at my school applying to vanderbilt. haha

Put me down as another one who didn't want to write the weird essays. (NYU)

I didn't apply to Darthmouth because my half-sister's mom went there and besides the fact that I dislike her a lot, she is currently jobless, living with her mother in Las Vegas, and addicted to gambling....not a very good alumnus representation :/

I applied to Franklin and Marshall becuase when I went to an info session at the school, there was this completely obnoxious girl who was there with her equally obnoxious mother and they were basically harrassing the info guy about theatre majors and how important they were and they just kept interrupting him, and the guy COMPLETELY shut them down. Like, the entire group was silent for a good five minutes awkwardly staring at each other. I was like, wow, if an admissions officer has the guts to do that, I could definately be one of these people.

I didn't apply to Tufts because of the most OBNOXIOUS girl in my tour group. She wore a wool coat, walked with a very "prim and proper" walk with the notebook and pen that she purchased that morning that would be full with a dead pen by sundown, pushing everyone and anyone out of the way to be at the VERY front of the tour group (10 people, mind you) and being an askhole (definition).

I applied to Princeton to beat out the salutatorian; Princeton was her dream school, but she was an uber ***** and so everyone wanted me to "take her spot." Pretty sad in retrospect.

didn't apply to Dartmouth because of the high percentage of people who participate in Greek life (though maybe this isn't such a dumb reason)

didn't apply to Wesleyan because I thought if I did end up going there, I would always be thinking that Yale was in the same state (assuming that I wouldn't get into Yale). I kinda wished I applied because the boys from MGMT (an awesome band that I recently discovered) went there, and they're pretty cool haha

applied to USC because everyone else at my school did, even though I don't like it very much myself. talk about peer pressure.

Tonyt88, I love you.

I applied to NYU because it was in New York and I was already applying to Columbia. I got in too...yay? I guess...

I applied to Capital University (an extreme safety) because their color is purple. I thought it was cute.
