I'm not applying to Amherst because the tourguide was incredibly obnoxious. He just kept stressing over and over that Amherst is "incredibly selective." As if we don't already know that? He had a lisp also, LOL. That's not even the real reason, but it did reinforce my doubt in applying there.

I also refuse to apply anywhere else that has supplements. Most of the colleges on my list already have supplements and I just can't bring myself to do anymore.

A lot of other schools that I'm not applying to, like Wellesely, NYU, Georgetown, and Vassar are just because I'm intimidated. I don't think I could handle that much rejection. hahaha

OHHH and not applying to Franklin and Marshall because I've been to Lancaster many times and it smells like horse/cow poop everywhere. And Dutch Wonderland is lame.

When deciding between Yale and Princeton, I chose to apply to Yale because they only required two subject tests, not three :)

I'm not applying to Cornell because for some reason I associate the name with the word "bunion" which I think is the most disgusting word in the English language.

im not applying to amherst cuz the information session interviewer was a ****** (even my counselor said so)
not applying to vanderbilt cuz half my high school is

I passed on Carleton College in Minnesota because there is a generic cereal factory about a 1/2 mile away and the smell of Cocoa Puffs made me sick to my stomach after about 5 hours on campus. Now if it had been Fruit Loops!.....

I didn't apply to colby (even though maine is my favorite state) because someone told me that all the colleges in Maine looked really low-class and run down. :|

Well, my mom didn't want me to apply to U of Tenn after we took the tour and saw a huge paper male body part hanging out of a dorm window (I think about 2 stories in length). So of course I applied there since they obviously have a sense of humor. ha ha.

(The homeschool mom and daughter in our group were stunned, it was hilarious. But my dad thought it was funny.)

The other was because they filled everything out for me and voided having to write the essays. :) I think I just have to send a transcipt and $50 to apply... If I don't get accepted to my ED lol.

My D did not apply to NYU because 1) it required the SAT IIs, 2) the people we met at open house (students and staff) gave the impression it was a cold, unfriendly campus and 3) people we knew who went there confirmed that. The weird thing is they send us brochures and letters imploring her to apply almost weekly, sometimes more than once a week. They seem too desperate, and her SAT scores make this a reach school in any event.

She did apply to St. Johns b/c it was on the common app and got in with a scholarship offer (not going, waiting for her first choice);

She wanted to apply to a school in a city for, among other reasons, the public transportation;

She did not apply to Simmons despite several very costly brochures and letters begging her to apply.

She applied to Emerson but I hope she doesn't accept if they offer because I don't like their colors (purple and gold) (only half kidding). They do have a quiddich team, too, which I thought was cool, though.
