What's the dumbest reason you applied/didn't apply to a school?

@ Newark Wilder- hahahaha I sat at my computer saying Wofford over and over, laughing out loud as I did.

Besides the fact that my parents went there, I applied to Hope College because I liked the anchor logo and thought it would look good on a sweatshirt.

(And the writer of my AP psych textbook teaches there, although I guess that's less dumb...)

lol.... i dint apply to berea college cos it required three teacher recs and all of them written :D i dint have the strength to go to my school and for written recs when my teachers had so sweetly agreed to online recs
i dint apply to any college that required a paper application :D
i dint apply to colleges that required hard copies of my transcript cos my school does not provide enough copies n its really tedious n expensive too... to get em from my school :(

I applied to U. of Hartford because at the time the ratio of males to females was 3 to 1.

Stupid!!! Transferred out after1 1/2 years.

I didn't apply to University of Florida because it wasn't in the US rankings for engineering... but I guess that's not a very dumb reason. I mean I'd rather make money than become a florida gator... idk...

In the summer of my junior year of high school I had no idea what the college admission process was like. I had no idea about admission standards or anything. All I knew was that I apparently got a really high score on my SAT (2270) and had a great gpa (4.2). Well I ended up sending my scores to a lot of schools that I later realized were really really bad. But after like a week, I started to recieve a ton of emails giving me a VIP application. I was like, wow, these schools must love me, and I don't even have to pay an admission fee! So I sent my transcript to the schools and did the applications all in one day. I was so exicted I was being treated so highly for some of these colleges. Then two weeks later I get like 8 college acceptance letters, pretty much all of them offering a full scholarship. I showed my mom, and she just kind of laughed. She said "you know you can raise your bar a little more. These schools aren't really known for their acadmics." So yea I basically just wasted my time and effort applying to schools just because they sent me VIP applications. Just to give you an idea, I'd say the average gpa of those schools I applied to was like 2.8 and average sat score was like 1050.

I refused to apply to George Washington because Georgetown was my number one choice. I was terrified of living right next to Georgetown if I got rejected. But I was accepted EA to SFS so it's all good. :)

i didnt apply to princeton because in the movie A Beautiful Mind all the students seem pretty annoying and i was afraid i might become schizophrenic if i went there.

didnt apply to michigan state because all my friends were

didnt apply to brown because i was afraid it would be too liberal and hippy

didnt apply to stanford because the application had 3 essays (though short)

applied to boston university because they sent me a letter about their advanced medical program, though i'm totally interested in business, not medicine

applied to NYU because there was a guy on a cruise ship i went on who had a purple NYU shirt and he was pretty cool and could do a backflip

applied to Boston College because their swim coach was really nice to me, even though i didnt really want to swim there

applied to texas a&m because they kept offering me ridiculous things and i felt bad. the money they spent on paper and postage stamps was probably more than the application fee i sent them back. im glad i helped pay back their failed investment

damn i didnt know Irvine was right by Newport Beach where the OC was set. :(i only applied to UCB and LA... and then a bunch of ivys and stanford and nyu

I didn't apply to Swarthmore because I was scared that I wouldn't have a social life.

I didn't apply to Amherst because my English teacher graduated from there and is extremely ignorant.

I didn't apply to Williams because I didn't want to be a purple cow. I changed my mind too late and then couldn't apply :(.

I didn't apply to Davidson because I wanted to see a lot of snow in the winter.

I applied to Dartmouth and WUSTL because neither of them had essays for their supplements.

I did not apply to Amherst because my waitress at a nearby restaurant was extremely rude and stuck-up.

I did not apply to Princeton because my tour guide only talked about eating clubs.

I applied to UCSD because it felt weird applying to only two other UC's.

Haha that's why I'm not applying to Colgate either!!
I'm not even looking at Lewis & Clark or Washington & Lee just because I don't like the names.

I was hesitant about Colgate too but decided to go ahead with it due to it's free online application.

i didn't apply to UW cuz its app navigation sucks hell..

-didnt even look at schools with less then 8,000 kids, schools that offered free apps becasue then they couldnt be very good schools or schools that sent me too much mail becasue they p***ed me off

-didnt apply ANYWHERE in NJ or close to home because i dont want to have to come home anytime except for holidays and NJ sucks
-not going to Penn State becasue everyone in my school wants to go and i dont want to go to high school again i want to go to college
-didnt apply to any religous schools
-didnt apply anywhere without seasons becasue i like the seasons
-didnt apply to GW becasue it is the most expensive school so it must be full of rich snobs
-didnt apply to UMich becasue they wanted too many essays and i prob wouldnt get in
-only applied to Indiana because the business school was number 11 and it was the highest business school i had a chance of getting into...as it turns out it is now my top choice
-applied to Michigan State becasue they were the Spartans so they must have some amazing toga parties! i love that movie Animal House lol

-i am quite nitpicky arent i? its a wonder i ended up with a list of 8 schools to apply to! even though 2 have been knocked off already...Penn State and Binghampton for the reasons above...

My interest in UChicago began because I was amazed at how much the school looked like Hogwarts ^_^ haha, I still am, but that's not my only reason anymore.

I didn't apply to GW because I spoke to someone from there, and they were REALLY preppy, annoying, and snobby. I know, maybe I just got stuck with the stereotype, but it left a really bad impression.
