The UCF website isn't too specific about application dates.

I heard the earlier one applies, the greater possibility of receiving substantial financial aid.

Does anybody know the earliest that an upcoming high school senior can apply?

I am not sure, but I applied in early September when I applied and heard back within 2 weeks. Your financial aid is determined by a government application called FAFSA. If you are referring to scholarships given to students based on academic merit, I believe they give those to everyone who fits within the criteria.

Go here for more info: Student Financial Assistance, UCF : Official Web site of the Office of Student Financial Assistance at the University of Central Florida.

They say not to apply more than a year before you'd be attending.

So if you're applying for summer '09, wait a few weeks until Summer B for this year starts.

If you're applying fall '09, wait until beginning of September.

Financial Aid comes later, after your parents file their taxes. Apply for that as soon as they can file taxes.

Academic Merit scholarships are given out early, and once they run out of money, they stop giving them out whether you fit the bill or not. I know a friend who had about the same GPA and test scores as me and she didn't get the scholarship because she applied this past spring, whereas I applied September of last fall.

My daughter sent in her online application and essays for UCF summer B the first week in July of 2007. She requested that her high school transcripts be sent at the first opportunity (before school started, when the teachers and gc's were back to work in August). She received her online acceptance on September 14, 2007.
Hope this helps.
