What's the general temperature in a college dorm room?

I'm going to school in western New York, so it will be cold during the winter. I've heard that dorms are usually pretty warm, since most people wear t-shirts inside, even if it's the dead of winter. Is this true? My house temp almost never goes above 65 in the winter, so I might have to get used to wearing clothes for warmer weather in the dorm.

Also, what kind of bathrobes do people wear? Because every time I see a plushy one, everyone tells me that it would be way too warm to wear inside. What fabric would be best? I'm having trouble finding one, so where did you get yours? What have been your experiences with all this?

Temperatures vary A LOT, especially in older buildings. My college says that they are shooting for 70-72 degrees in the winter. However, some rooms overheat to 90 degrees with the windows closed while other rooms barely scratch 60 degrees. You’ll have to wait and see.

Bathrobes… what’s a bathrobe? Just kidding, but in my three years in the dorms I have only met a single person wearing one. At my college most students walk to the showers in a towel and a few change in the bathroom itself (each shower has a small changing room attached to it). If you want to have a bathrobe, get the one YOU want.

Either hot or cold. In a relatively short time

It depends, if you are living in a dorm with AC the temperature is obviously more in your control. As for bathrobes, I have only seen like maybe one or two guys wear them ever (and they were out of shape and probably self-conscious).

I’m a girl, so I think most use bathrobes. It might be difficult balancing a towel, shower caddy, and keys. I figured a robe would make it simpler.

Remember me saying that I only met a single person in college using bathrobes? I went to a women’s college. When I participated in a summer program at another university and lived in a co-ed dorm, I never saw anyone wearing a bathrobe either.

I don’t mean to discourage you from wearing a bathrobe. Please do if it’s more convenient or comfortable for you - just don’t expect to get many recommendations from other college students.

Not at all. The towel goes around your body, the shower caddy in one hand and keys in the other.

at my school it was whatever the temp outside was. If it was hot, the dorm was hot, if it was cold the dorm was like 60 ><
