What's the latest date to add an award to the common app?

I'm going to be a senior next fall. If I get an award in late February next year, can I tell colleges about it? When is the latest date that colleges accept new awards won? Does applying (SC)EA/ED/RD affect any of these dates?

Any updates you want a school to know about after you have submitted the Common App should be submitted via email or mail directly to the school. You will not be able to revise your application once it has been submitted to a school (for that school). However, if you submit it to a specific school, and subsequently want to revise/add information, you can create a new version of your application, which can be submitted to other schools you have not already applied to.

Here’s an example:

You fill out the Common Application and submit it to College A on November 1, which is their priority scholarship deadline.

On November 10, you win a state award for one of your extra curricular activities.

You are also planning to apply to University B, which has a deadline of November 15.

While you can use the exact same version of the Common App you submitted to College A, to include this new state award, you can create a new version of the app you submitted previously, and add the award, and also fix the typo you noticed in your essay. You submit this version to University B.

To tell College A about your new state award, you can send an email to the Admissions office. Be sure to include your full name/address and other identifying information, so it will end up in your file. You may want to include your Common Application ID number as well.

If you receive additional honors later, as long as you have not submitted the common app to a school, you can create a new version and update it. However, once it’s submitted to a school, you cannot revise that application. Also, you cannot create an alternate version of your application UNTIL it has been submitted to at least one school.
