what's the lbgt community like at ucla?

title is fairly self explanatory XD

I haven’t really seen much of it, but I haven’t seen any opposition to it. I’m sure you can find it if you look for it, but if you want to avoid it you can. The only thing that I see present is an anti- anti-lbgt community, and anti- intolerance in general.

Theres an lgbt office in the Student Activities Center where you can get free printing. From time to time when I utilize this, I see some people hanging out being social in the general loungy area of the office. That’s probably the most concentrated “community” you will find on campus, unless there’s a student club…?

I don’t know much about LGBT orgs on campus, but QA is the largest, I believe. I’ve hung out with the gay frat on campus, and they’re a bunch of really nice guys. There’s also a LGBT sorority on campus.

I don’t remember the name of the gay frat, but I remember the name of the sorority one. Gamma Ro Lamda (GRL) hahaha, I thought it was clever.

I’m not really sure how prevalent the gay community is here, but I know there’s a gay lounge in Kerchoff where LGBT people just hang out. And then there’s the LGBT center in the Student Activities Center. There’s also a weekly meeting for the Gay-Straight Alliance (? I’m not sure, only gone once) in Kerchoff where they talk about general topics that may or may not pertain to the LGBT community. The day I went they were talking and having activities about marriage (topic was chosen due to something about prop 8, but we didn’t really talk about it though). From what my friend tells me, they normally have a random topic they talk about. There are apparently also subdivision clubs within the “main one” (which I think is the Gay-Straight or Pan-Queer Alliance, not sure.) Like one of my friends is in some gay Catholics club.

So yea… there’s definitely a community here. Hahahaha, I hang out with my LGBT friends too much, no wonder I’m not getting dates. xD
