What's the normal notification time for Freshman Apps if applied early?

Applied on Common App day 1 for Freshman Fall 2018 and was wondering what the normal experience is on notifications from Rowan?

My son applied pretty early to all his schools on the Common App - I don’t remember exactly but we didn’t hear from Rowan until after the new year - maybe February or so? It was one of the later ones, I do remember that.

Thanks!

Both my kids applied in September and heard right before Xmas (high school class of '15 and ‘16), but it seems to have pushed later for Class of 2017 based on friends’ kids and people who posted here.

Have you looked to see if there’s a Rowan forum here under Colleges and Universities? Usually there will be a thread from the previous year that will give you a clue when notifications come out.

OspreyCV22: Yes I took a look at the ROWAN Forum but the dates are all over the place… some said Dec, some said March, one said 7 days from Applying (though the person never said when they applied so I doubt Rowan is that quick!)
Also, every year switches a bit so trying to get the most recent… especially with Common App opening Aug 1st.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

My son just started his freshman year at Rowan- every year the apps are rising. Last year was a record - I think they said 14,000+? Today the announce a new $5m donation for the business school, so I’m guessing another big number and probably a little longer to notify everyone.

Thanks for the info NJWrestlingMom

@NJRoadie, I wanted to check in and see how your DD is enjoying Rowan and the new Business School? I recall from the Rowan/TCNJ thread that she was starting there. My DS is a senior at Rowan and very happy. We are going in a couple of weeks for a “formal” tour with her. The Business school was a parking lot when we dropped off my son in 2014! So much growth…it’s incredible and great to see!!

My DD is now a junior (she is only in her 2nd year, but in the Degree in 3 year program).

She loves it there, is challenged but has a 3.9 GPA and is also having fun. She picked up a job on campus in the fall last year and continues with it.

The new business building opened on time in January, and she loves everything about it except for the fact that they somehow neglected to put in any food place - many of the other academic buildings have these, even if just a grab and go wrap/sandwich place. Apparently that is being remedied by spring semester, so she must not be the only hungry one  She also applied and was accepted into the Honors program. She originally applied and was rejected in her senior year, but was permitted to take an Honors Composition class, in which she earned an A, so that won them over. On top of that, she won a $1,000 scholarship from the business school.

Definitely pleased with the affordability, she will graduate with zero debt (none for us either) - that was very important for her future goals and flexibility. At the same time, I am extremely satisfied with the education - the professors teach the classes (not grad students), the sizes of the classes are small as promised, and the campus is thriving. It isn’t a beautiful campus like TCNJ but it is alive and kickin’ which is great to see!

As a “potential” parent or student there, feel free to ask any questions, and I can tell you what I know or ask my kids. From what I have seen, Rowan has lived up to their promises to us on our tour days. Best of luck!

Thanks @NJRoadie … looking forward to touring the new Biz school in a couple of weeks! We are also doing a second look at TCNJ and Rutgers…so happy she wants to stay in-state and has great options!

@tpcrd66
Anytime! I am a TCNJ alum and my foster son spent 10 weeks at Rutgers (Busch) in a paid summer research program this summer, so I’ve seen those three campuses pretty frequently and recently. Rutgers is a different ballpark - much larger, huge class sizes, urban and sprawling. Notice I didn’t say bad  Just different. Both Rutgers, TCNJ and Rowan have honors programs. Rowan’s offers huge perks, which I can outline if of interest, TCNJ and Rutgers fewer. Rowan offers the best merit aid, but it is getting more competitive and is growing fast (so inevitably going ot have growing pains). TCNJ has noticed the competition (and I think still holds a grudge about not getting their engineering certification years ago when Rowan got it). TCNJ started giving slightly more merit aid for 2017’s class, but that is based on people’s comments on CC and not verified info.

Ramapo and Stockton are both offering good merit, but are the opposite end of Rutgers in terms of size and location - much smaller and more rural feeling. Personal preference and money factors ruled for us

Good luck!

@College2018Hopeful Last year when my older DD applied, I think I also received the decision in around Christmas time. I had called them a few time and if I remember correctly, I think they did not begin “downloading” until November after they processed the Spring applications. You may want to call them to confirm.

Boy I am hearing about a lot of Engineering students hearing back from Rowan but not many others… UNFORTUNATELY!

It seems really early to me - but the acceptances so far seem to be high stats and engineering. I know we didn’t hear until well after Christmas last year. Maybe they are just on the ball this year!

thanks… it’s just Rowan seems quite a bit behind other NJ Colleges (except Rutgers as they are always later)

My daughter heard back on Nov 22nd, Biological Sciences

thks

Just got ours today–he’s in!!! College of Performing Arts Music Industry
