What's the one best thing about Northwestern?

To those who currently attend NU, what is the one thing that you can't stop talking about about the school? I want to hear the student side of the story instead of those college brochures. Any input is appreciated!

I’d have to say the pulse of the campus. The campus is incredibly upbeat because everybody is ENGAGED in something in a very real way. Now imagine all of this engagement taking place in a quasi-forest of a campus that just happens to have a lake nearby and a world-class city next door if you ever need an urban escape. It’s an enchanted forest (of the social-intellectual kind) with a cosmopolitan flair, populated by aspiring poets, artists, writers, social scientists, engineers, journalists, lawyers, doctors, and scientists learning and living together. How’s that for an image? :P

It’s not in Durham North Carolina!!!

(J/K – sorry OP, I couldn’t help myself)

Everyone is smart.

The people! NU kids are all smart but are humble and don’t feel the need to be competitive with others or brag

My D mentioned that unlike HS, where she was 1 of 50 kids that liked school, were good at it and were interesting, NU is entirely composed of kids that are like that. She loved it, and is now a well-rounded, supremely confident young engineer that’s fun to be around. She is an engineer that cares about others, the environment, enjoys art, sports, and travelling around the world, and can afford to do it. Not a typical engineer, but perhaps typical of NU students. They are all good at more than one thing.
