The steep guy to girl ratio does not really border me but I've heard students put in a lot of hard work just to end up with an average GPA. Are students being overworked? If so, what's the rationale for this.

Overworked is relative, really. I used to think 2 hours of homework a night was ridiculous, but now that I’m a grad student I dream of only having to work 50 hours a week at a job.

Anyway, I know undergrads usually have a decent chunk of free time; Tech isn’t a party school, but I have heard of many people who have never even had to pull an all-nighter.

I really don’t get the ratio beef. The male/female ratio is really only a problem for introverted people that live in their dorm and expect women to come to them. All you have to do is go to Buckhead / Virginia Highlands, Athens, Agnes Scott, GSU, or Emory to find a guy / girl ratio less than 1.

Students aren’t overworked. The problem is that most of Tech’s students are naturally gifted, so they didn’t study more than 20 minutes throughout all of high school. They come to Tech and now, rather than being the smartest person in class, are just average. So they have to figure out how to study and have motivate themselves - you can’t just play video games all day, every day.

That causes students to complain, especially when they talk to music-major high school friends that tell them “At FSU, all we do all day is drink and watch women!”.

lol. Glad to hear that. Studying is not a problem 4 me.

the classes are very hard here and you do have to work a lot, but in the end it’s for the best bc you will get hired by the best companies that come to tech to recruit.
