going to Georgia Tech... I'm a little worried.

I'm really happy I'm going to a really good engineering school and all, but I'm a little worried about the social life there.

I dunno, I may just be weird but seeing 30% girls w/ 70% boys really turns me down. I wish there were more girls! Hope there are a lot of non-nerdy girls too. Is Georgia Tech not a party school at all?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not just looking for a party school. Education comes first, but I want to have a fun college life too, like anyone else. =\

Oh well, I hope the city life is at least exciting. I like big urban cities with lots of activities. Is very it close to the main city?

Did you get accepted to any other schools? If you got into GATech, I'm sure you have plenty of other really good options. Some prestigious schools like Vanderbilt, UCLA, and Texas are known for having hot chicks. At least GATech is in ATL though, so there has to be SOME girls around town. I hear Emory chicks aren't impressive either though.

I hear from some current students that the sorority chics from UGeorgia and SGeorgia come to tech on weekends to party at the frats...plus its Atlanta, theres mad girls everywhere

It really is not half as bad as you are putting it out to be. I am an accepted student for next year and am decided between a bunch of schools, and i have been to my fair share of tech campus visits and info sessions. first of all, although the ratio may be intimidating, i've heard from numerous techies that there always seem to be single girls, an with the greek scenes on campus, there is definately a party/social scene. Tech is right in atlanta, so its very convenient for wherever you want to go. It is also right on the MARTA subway line, which can easily take you to the club scene in Buckhead. Basically, the one major point that i have heard from everyone at tech is that your social life is what you make it. As long as you don't sit around in your dorm and play Halo for your whole life (like a suprising number of tech guys, actually improving your chances in the ratio...), you will definately have an awesome time. :)

Awesome guys! thanks for the replies, I feel much better! =)

emilio3216, did you say you're going to G Tech too? if so, see you there!

I have a few female friends going to tech. All completely gorgeous, brilliant, and funny women. One was actually a varsity cheerleader for my school.

That said, I hate Tech guys.

One of my friends just graduated from Tech. There's parties, but he said there are a lot of nerdy, quiet kids. You can go and party in Buckhead or anywhere else in Atlanta, but the actual Tech scene isn't great. The girls....he said most were not very attractive or interesting, but there are some decent girls there. Oh, and that Tech kids hate the Emory kids.

You should be worried, Notre Dame is going to take you out on the football field in your first game as a student.

No but seriously, I hear both opinions, one: it's awesome, two: everyone is a nerd.

Lol, take it for what it's worth.

Any more comments?

HAHAHA, how ironic it is that the OP actually lives down the hall from me. And his social life is fine, trust me

Its in Atlanta right? so you will have NO problems finding girls.

I talked to a mom the other day who's son is on the shy side. Even HE has a girlfriend, much to her surprise. Seems they bus them in from area colleges. His gf is from Agnes Scott.

We live in the area and it is true that several of both my D's and S's friends chose to go elsewhere because of that ratio. We do hear that the kids who chose Tech end up pretty happy though.

There's girls that are availabe, but they usually aren't the best looking.

if a college has the world "Tech" in the title you can be sure that either there aren't many girls or that the girls are homely

I went on a tour of the Tech campus my senior. I won't discourage you, but honestly, it's pretty dry there. A lot of different kinds of guys; fraternities, things to do. But girls aren't part of the equation. A lot of people start to look very same-y the longer you're there.

The campus is beautiful and I think you'll be stimulated intellectually while you're there. But you may have to look elsewhere for the ladies. Be glad the school is in Atlanta where there are a lot of other college kids roaming around.

Why do they hate Emory?

cuz emory has money i think and that they’re stuck up(?)

What were your stats? I want to go to tech too…

This thread is 7 years old.

Engineering girls? Have fun…lol

Awe… this is really old
