I know I shouldn't be the one to complain, but why are there so many people giving advice? There have been a glut of posters lately who are tellling everyone they will get into Harvard...

These include people who:
have 1 post,
have just asked for advice for their own resume

Theres a whole bunch of idiots on here who act like they know everything, but who are they to say who's going to get into where and tell tell URMs they've got a chance when their list of extracurriculars sucks. Most of these people are in highschool (hehe like me); I bet only like 2 percent of the advice given on here is authentic.

Ya, and when the people that actually know what they are talking about give URMs an appropriate approximation of their chance- mostly low- it makes them look like asses because all these idiots say they can get in anywhere just because they are colored........................

it actually ****es me off because i always try to help

OMG I feel the same way...just because a person is Hispanic doesn't mean they can get into Harvard having 4 extracurriculars..no leadership positions...and average SAT scores. I think they would still have to have something that set them apart from other applicants.

You're lumping all minorities into one category- "colored". No, we're no "colored", we're African, Asian, Hispanic, etc. Get it right. We're not all the same. That's what's wrong with calling someone colored.

But I don't know, maybe in Canada they let that slide.
