Does the Stanford music department also read your common app and Stanford supplement when they review your music supplement?
Since they don't require anything else (recs, transcripts) until Jan. 1, I don't see what other point there could be to this...

The Art/Music Departments actually do review your applications during December. They have to analyze all the supplements and write a report to the adcoms judging your talent by January 1st. All the other stuff needs to be sent by January 1st, but the adcoms need a report on your ability already written and ready to go by the time they read your application.

But why does the music department need to read my essays in order to write a report on my musical talent? Should I write my commonapp essay on music or something then?

no man no need to overcomplicate things just know to send in everything by the december 1st deadline

Ok so the music department doesn’t read my application and stuff then?

OMG. i just noticed your username is “feuxfollets”
that’s so cool.
because i’m absolutely in love with that piece.

I thought the letter of recs were due by the first as well

i rushed all my teachers lol

Mhmm… I still need to get another recommendation for Stanford since they don’t accept sophomore teachers. Meh.

they’ll take sophomore teachers, they would just prefer Junior/Senior ones because they want to know how you’ve grown throughout high school

if you have no other choice take a sophomore teacher over a junior/senior one who would write you a bad rec imo.

Well I have another Junior year teacher who would definitely write me a good rec. However, he told us last year that if we asked him for a rec last year, he wouldn’t write one for us this year. And he kinda gave this speech after he had already written one for me for a summer program, so I don’t know if I want to ask him again.

Um one last question: we can submit the common app electronically on Dec. 1st right? Or does it have to be in by 11:59 on Nov. 30th?
