Hello,
Thank for clicking on this post, I'm a home schooled student thinking about applying to Dartmouth ED, I was really attracted to Dartmouth (even its name sounds pompous) until recently when I started hearing that Dartmouth doesn't have that much of an academic environment, the drinking is rampant, kids are rowdy etc. I also heard that inspite of being an ivy, its applications actually fell this year!
An academic environment is most important for me and I would like to how Dartmouth fares in this category. Also, are there any things I should know about before applying ED (possible turn offs or deal breakers). I'd really appreciate responses from Dartmouth current students, Alums, parents. Others are welcome too.

Do you know what the word “pompous” means?

There are multiple threads discussing this already. I suggest that you read them, instead of asking us all to repeat ourselves.

@Consolation I don’t really understand them well, I tried reading “What’s wrong with Dartmouth?”. I just need a list of things that I should be aware of before I commit to Dartmouth.

Applications falling is not necessarily a bad thing. Exponentially increasing numbers of applications would not be good, either.

@bodangles,
Ever wonder why applications fall, there must be some reason kids don’t want to attend Dartmouth. Does it mean that applicants now a days have become more focused and apply to less colleges (where they’d actually go) or Does it mean something else?

There are older threads, too. Use search. I don’t mean to be mean, but I am just not going to go over all of this all over again, and I’m sure there are others who feel the same way. We’ve talked about it until we are, as they say, blue in the face.

I find it difficult to believe that a Dartmouth applicant would be unable to follow the discussion.

@Consolation,
One last time, would you just please direct me to those threads? (By posting links?)
Thanks

No, I will not do the search for you. Why on earth can’t you do it yourself?

For one, I’ve no idea where to begin. Don’t post links, just post the keyword I should search for, please please please.
