I just got accepted to Johns Hopkins University so now I can start thinking about college shopping items. Say all your college must buy item.

I’ll start off.

It seems simple, but my backpack right now is falling apart.

Hoodie and sticker for my car.

perhaps....MAXIM??

yeah. Laptops and plane tickets, maybe.

I would say computer, but I can't decide if I'm going to go with a laptop or a desktop. I kind of want to have my own desktop set up...and then just record my lectures. Hmmm.

Laptop, although I might nix this and replace it with a senior trip to Florida.
Lamp, since I have none.
Mini Fridge for pure coolness.

I'm all about planning the interior design of my future dormroom. Mostly because Brandeis' dorms look like army barracks.

Just kidding.

Except, not really.

Easy Mack and Ramin noodles. It is THE ultimate college dorm food. I felt left out beacuse I didn't have Ramin noodles here with me the first month. :)

yeah, I have to remember to bring some ramin noodles.

French press, coffee, and tea!

100 pack of condoms

Hoodie and sticker for my car.

Car? Not where I'm going. I'm going to have to SELL my car.

Cars and New York City don't mix.

Oh speaking of NYC, MetroCard and a good Cellphone.

Ooh and

I'm going shopping for a parka, warm boots, scarves, gloves, a ski mask, blankets, and mounds and mounds and mounds of warm sweaters. Because I am going to Minnesota and after living in Missouri for 5 years, most of my winter clothing is woefully inadequate.

Beyond that, I'm looking for a new totebag, since my current one (which I use as a backpack) is falling apart. Apparently there is some unspoken rule amongst the bag industry that all of their products must be either...
A. Emblazoned with ugly logos,
B. Cluttered with bits of metal frippery and completely too fragile to actually hold anything,
C. Boring and unattractive,
or D. Ridiculously expensive.
So I am probably going to end up sewing one, since what I want (colorful, patterned, sturdy, and large with many pockets) is apparently not produced for under $200.

I also need to stock up on tea and get one of those water-heater doodads that you plug in to boil the water.

And I second (third? fourth? hundreth?) the laptop remark.

Plus I need the general stock of lamps and mini-fridges and egg-crate foam for my mattress and that sort of thing.

But the one thing I really want, the thing that is completely impractical, the thing that I feel deeply silly admitting, is a pair of silly rain boots. It just seems appropriate.

Isn't it fun, all you EDers, to be able to start planning this out? Oh, and congrats NYUstudent, it would have been a shame if you hadn't gotten in.

A year's supply of beer if you're from Europe :P

a fluffy feather bed mattress topper, because we all know those college dorm room ones are hard as bricks. ear plugs. lots of sweat pants!!
