What's your favorite kind of writing utensil?

I love Sharpie pens.
I feel as though having a nice pen/pencil makes or breaks a note-taking experience.

Wow, that sounds weird.

I’ve always gone for Pilot G2s, .38 mm if I can find them, but usually .5 mm. I have become kind of addicted to these kind of writing supplies. I’ve also started using some Stabilo Point 88 felt tip pens. They come in 30 colors, they’re dirt cheap, and they write well. Hard to resist that.

I second Sharpie pens. The problem is I only like the ones that bleed through the paper.
Other than that I usually use mechanical pencils because I hate having to cross stuff out.

A keyboard. Qwerty is best.

The uniball vision elite in black and medium. Not fine. Yuck to fine tips.

I like hotel pens and the pens I get from the ortho - they write surprisingly smooth. Expensive pens don’t really work for me. :stuck_out_tongue: In general, I prefer pencil, especially when I can get the tilt in the lead haha.

I like my Mirado Black Warrior pencil
It writes so smooth!

I currently use a Pilot G2 .38 because it catches the paper better than the .5, but when the .38 runs out I’ll go back to the .5. For pencils I use a uni-ball Kuru Toga .5 or just a regular BIC (.5 or .7). It’s so hard to pick 1 or 2 pens/pencils so I normally carry about 40 or 50 in my pencil pouch.

Umm, the pen that has black ink. Yea, that one.

I can’t stand writing in pen, I like to be able to fix mistakes (and “mistakes” includes instances where I disapprove of my handwriting). I am left-handed as well so most of the time I end up with ink on my hand and smudges all over my paper as my hand slides across what I just wrote if I use pen.

Blue BIC mechanical pencils are my favorites, but I can tolerate non-mechanical Ticonderoga pencils.

Keyboards: the ThinkPad T42 has the best keyboard I have ever used. I dream of owning a Model M, though.
Pens: I’m a snob for the Pilot Precise V5 RT.
Pencils: any mechanical pencil works.

Pen: Pilot G2, hands down.
Keyboard: I love my Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 keyboard
Pencil: Mechanical ones

Bic mechanical pencils. I don’t have great handwriting and when I write with mechanical pencils (and Bic, specifically), I generally write better.

QWERTY keyboard? No way. Gotta go for Colemak. Also fun to watch your friends freak out when they can’t figure out how to use your computer; it acts as a form of security.
As for the physical keyboard, currently loving the one on the Thinkpad W530. Really smooth and solid.

I have a 0.7 mechanical pencil with a metallic hexagonal exterior, made in Switzerland. Holy crap I just looked up the maker and it probably cost seventy five dollars (it was a gift).

With some Japanese graphite I found in class, it does wonders. Incredibly stable and solid. Great feel. Very professional (no built in eraser here). Each click only progresses the lead a small distance, so I’ve never had lead break with it before.

For pens, I rely on Pentel RSVP (Japanese) if I’m writing on thinner paper, and STABILO Point 88 (German) if I’m writing on thicker paper. Both are durable yet stylish, efficient yet bold, and practical yet particular. I prefer the Pentel especially, it writes like a gel pen, looks like a gel pen, but doesn’t bleed through like a gel pen. Smooth as silk.

I like 0.7 pilot G2 pens as well. I like the way that the ink just flows.
Do you prefer a specific kind of loose leaf paper?

Graph paper. Always graph paper, and the narrower the lines the better. Even college rule paper are too wide for my tastes. 5 mm graph paper is the best. Let’s not think of how many pads of it I will bring back from Germany…

If I’m using pens either the Pilot G-2 or Uni-Ball 207 gel ink pens. The thing is, is that I hate pens because they almost always bleed through paper, I can’t fix mistakes, and they sometimes smudge.

I most often use just a regular 0.7 mechanical pencil. I can’t use normal pencils because I’ve been spoiled by that fact that mechanical pencils are always sharp.

Pilot G-2 pens, I love the way they write. If I’m using pencil, then I’ll just use a regular #2 pencil. Writing with a mechanical pencil is so uncomfortable to me; I can’t press down as hard as I like and it just feels weird :/

For paper, I prefer college ruled. My handwriting is tiny, so the smaller the lines the better.

Bic ballpoint pens and mechanical pencils. They write very well, last a long time, never fail, and are cheap so I don’t mind losing them.
