My parents say that if I get a 2400 (hahahaha), they'll either buy me an amazing gaming computer or give me $2400. The local test prep company will also give me $1000.

The glory of a 2400 was enough motivation for me. My parents didn’t even offer me ice cream.

the motivation for a higher score, for me, was a girl because higher score = better chance at my top college = closer to her

but i dont even talk to her anymore so no biggie

I screwed up on my GPA so hard, so its either I do well on this ****, or I don’t go to college. (or atleast, a decent one)

It’s just a personal test for me. I’m too much of a cocky arrogant dbag to believe there’s a test I cant get almost a perfect on if I study beforehand. And it impresses the ladies

Bragging rights comes next

And a good college kinda is a reason too I guess

^ You must have a fun time taking the AIME/USAMO. :P

So I can mock geniuses or smart kids. Show them that someone with half their IQ can kick their ass. I’ll slap them up even without photographic memory or all that cheap stuff that they got when they were born.

Motivation? None. SAT Superscore? 2340. 2400’s are overrated. As long as you’re in the SAT score range for the college you’re applying to, you’re good, and should worry about EC’s, GPA, rank, and essays. Same goes for val/sal status.

^False.

And OP has $3400 in incentives; I sure as hell would aim for a 2400 in his situation even if it weren’t extremely beneficial towards his chances at admission.

That is not true for many, if not most schools. Simply having a score is the SAT range is not always enough. Obviously, having a better than average SAT score is going to help in admission.

so that I can go to the colleges I want to go to, since, unfortunately, getting a high score is essential.

your parents are rich.

monstor344- don’t get me started lol

Well if I don’t score a perfect on the SAT than I will be tortured killed by my schools principal. That is my motivation.

If I don’t do good on the SATs my family disowns me, locks me in the shed, and moves far away while I get eaten by spiders and beavers and such.
Typical Asian punishment?

The score I get is the money I get (if its higher then 2150)

Haha, my parents offered me ice cream.

Well if get good SAT scores I can get into a better college. If I can get in a better college I can make more money. If I can make more money I can help more people.

That’s my main motivation. A bonus for getting good SAT scores is that I can make my parents proud (they work hard so I try to be a good student not only for myself but for my parents also).

well, if i DON’T do well, my parents will yell. a lot. D:
eh, if my parents didn’t really care about it, i’d have no motivation whatsoever (seeing as the sat is such a boring test). >__>

Pretend it’s a game, and you are here to challenge and BEAT the game. Feel smart and proud of outsmarting their deviously worded problems…feel that YOU are one of the few who can truly outsmart and win the test!

^that sounds weird, but I really do think of it as a game.
