When accepted for transfer?

I have a question about the transfer process. When you get accepted, are you committed or is it like the regular application process where you can get in an choose the school you want. I know all schools have different policies but what do most colleges do?

If you are accepted you must let the school know if you want to attend just like if you were applying as a freshman. If you are applying to more than one school, you choose the one that you are accepted at and want to attend and notify them. The sooner the better if you want to apply for on campus housing.

You have less time to let them know, I recall my son having to let most schools know in about 3 weeks but every school might be different.

Normally it is not binding. Even after paying a deposit, you can still opt to take another offer (this is for the waitlisted candidates).

D had about a 2 week window to accept or not when transferring, but that was only one school applied to, and one acceptance.

There is a discussion of this, and some of the complications that can arise, on the Transfer Admissions 101 "sticky" thread.
