I am currently a junior and i want to know what the earliest date is that i can get an application? When do they come out? And what is the deadline? I just want to get an early start. Thanks.

I'm not trying to be mean, but you really shouldn't even be worrying about this until the beginning of your Senior year....

Besides the point, for EA, the deadline is 10-15 I believe. The RD deadline is 1-15 of the following year. EA is usually the way to go as you don't have to write the four essays.

Don't expect the 2006-2007 application to be out until at least August.

mackie i would recommend looking at the application from this year and practicing on that. The EA app is strictly stats and no statement at all. It should be pretty easy to understand how to fill that out and there are hardly any tricks to it - just have impressive stats.

Thanks everyone. Ryan, does the EA app. require an essay?

As stated before, no, EA does not require essays :). Just your sem grades up to that point, clubs, activities, leadership positions. I forget, but I don't think you even need a teacher recommendation for EA.

EA sounds good, but i would prefer the essays and recommendations to give me that extra push. Do you know what i mean? By the way, when are you guys applying to UGA?

Somewhat, though the recommendation didn't help me any since the teacher wrote absolutely NOTHING about me, for me, etc.

Mackie, I'd suggest applying EA and seeing how that works out. If you get deferred (which is not the end of the world), then you submit recs, essays, etc.

And I think most of us here are all seniors, and have already applied. ;)

Thanks for the advice rodlo. Was the application process stressful? Well, of course it was stressful, but how did you handle it?

I think the only way the application process would be stressful is if you waited to do RD. Looking at what the EA students had to do and what the RD students had to do, I was sort of mad at myself for not having done EA. EA was just like the Georgia Tech application minus the essay.

Things don't start getting stressful til you get deferred from EA, because then you have to send in your midgrade report (I believe), a teacher rec, and the four essays. The essays weren't that bad, though they did limit you on the number of words (like around 200 or so), so that part was indeed hard. If I remember correctly, the essays were pretty much on a set topic so you don't have to come up with a topic to write about, you just write about your feelings or whatever on that particular topic. Now, if you are #1 or #2 in your class, you have nothing to worry about. You just send in your app and...voila, you're in.

Stressful...not really, it's just a lot of work. I mean, the EA application for UGA was quick and easy...but when you're suddenly filling out applications for 4 or 5 other schools, the whole process gets tiring.

UGA has always been my number one choice, but I had a couple other schools I applied to that I would be just as happy going to. Finding out I had been admitted to those schools made waiting for UGA a lot easier...but getting deferred SUCKED. It's kind of like, 'I have to do this AGAIN?'.

But when everything's said and done, it's no big deal. I mean, if you think about it, by your senior year you've already done everything you can do as far as academics, extracurriculars, jobs, etc. are concerned. All you really have left to do is fill out applications, write essays, and get teacher recommendations. Thinking about it that way helped ease any 'stress' I may have had...knowing that there really wasn't anything else I could do. Granted, I felt good about my high school records and activities...so that made things easier. I guess if you didn't have decent grades, etc. you might feel a little different. :p

I know I'm going to sound cheesy but it's true...you're going to be a senior (which is AWESOME, and the best feeling), and you're only a year away from starting a COMPLETELY different and exciting time in your life. Let the stress and anxiety go and just relax and enjoy your last year in high school. Everything will work itself out in the end, so just have fun. :)

how do u quote people?

Thanks, Great advice rodlo!!!!
