<p>It says that they will be out by april 1st, but most of the time the decisions actually come before that. So I was wondering does anyone know a more accurate date as to when the decisions will be out?</p>
<p>Based on last year, I would guess they are mailed about Mar. 22 or so. When they arrive depends on how far you are from NYC, so in your case Sat or Mon.</p>
<p>Well, it could be a couple of days later. The admission packets last year were sent out by 2-day priority mail - - we had ours on Monday March 27 - it probably had been mailed the previous Friday (March 24). </p>
<p>I just don't want people to get too anxious by expecting it to come too soon. I think the nicest thing about the Barnard packet last year is that it arrived before we expected it. So instead of getting all freaked out wondering, there was this wonderful, pleasant surprise in the mailbox. (And yes, I went kind of nuts when I saw the big FAT envelope. I didn't have to open it to know what it said.)</p>

<p>Yeah...we all hope it comes before April 1 is a "surprise," but by expecting it before April, it no longer becomes a surprise. And then when some of us sit at our computers staring longingly at the mailbox outside, waiting for the mailman to come, and then we see the mailman pull up and pull out a big white package/envelope. Then we cry, "Yippee!" and throw on shoes and run to the mailbox. Then we open the mailbox, and we find that big shiny envelope to be...a credit card promotion. Then we get sad and wait for tomorrow's mail. Dang it.</p>

When my d applied, the letters were sent out on Friday (March 25th, 2005) and she got hers on Monday following...</p>

<p>I called today. They said March 26. My D is out of the country until the 30th anyway.</p>
<p>I'm really confused. As I said in another thread, I was at Barnard, in person, and asked when we were going to get letters and the secretary said the letters would be mailed out the 21st. Why would they change their minds?</p>
<p>I remember last year I visited Barnard the weekend of April 1 (which was on a saturday, I believe). They had said that they had just sent them out. I assume they will be using a similar date for this year.</p>
<p>I seem to remember that my year (2005), if you called and asked, they told you a later date than the actual mailing, so that you would be pleasantly surprised when your letter came early. Maybe that's what they did this year, and the secretary wasn't actually supposed to tell you March 21, but meant to say March 26 (even though possibly they really are being sent on the 21st). Or maybe they need a few more days to decide :)</p>
<p>I'll go with the speculation (and hope) that they're really being sent out earlier than the 26th. It seems more likely they would mail on a Friday than a Monday. And don't they want to keep up with Smith, who's posting decisions online tomorrow night?:)</p>

It would make sense since another post was saying that accepted students would be able to log in to their accounts on March 27th. Why would they make accounts live before most people got their letter? Maybe they misinterpreted the phone calls and thought you were asking, "when will we GET our letter?"</p>
<p>Scarfmadness, I really hope that this is the case for this year. I really would like to know if I'm in or not. Whether I should send in my deposit for OSU or join the Barnard '11 Facebook group...</p>
