When are ED decisions sent out?

we're all too hopeful to accept the 15th as the date they are sent out :(

Well, looking at last year's thread, it appears that some NJers got letters on the 14th, so I'm still hopeful. I still wish there was a way to play USPS or Princeton to have the mail expedited.

called again today and the general secretary said they were still not sure, as they were still in committe. they haven't told the person who answers the phone what the date is yet, but she said by mid december.

Yeah I couldn't get a good answer.
They seem intent on saying mid-December.

the mid december thing is ****ing me off...

we can all pour in emails to the prince and ask them to pressurize the admissions office for a prompt release of results.. what say?

LOL LOL ... that's a good idea haha...

i really hope that they don't send acceptance letters via fed ex and other via snmail...think about it- if they post mark it on friday those that got in should get their material by saturday and those that didn't well, sunday there is no mail so youll be sure that you didn't get in

yeah.. but imagine how happy you would be if you got in! you will celebrate for longer (because you will know earlier)

lol...yeah for optimism! I unfortunately refuse to think of that possibility for fear of dissapointment

that's exactly how I feel...

Saturday:

"Oh mum, did any letter arrive for me?"

"No?!"

"Ok...
oh yeah, if there is a letter from Princeton in the box, don't mind, just throw it in the paper bin..."

One could exclude the last sentence, but then again it might happen like this:

Saturday:

"Oh mum, did any letter arrive for me?"

"No?!"

"ok"

Saturday, 23rd, the winter break, one day to christmas.

You get up at 10 o'clock, smell marcipan and chocolate, look out of the window, beautiful snow, clear sky, sun is shining.

You walk down to the table for breakfast and you see this thin letter on your table. All members of you family sit around you and stare at you in this annoying mixture of hope and expectations. AND YOU KNOW WHAT IT WILL SAY, but you are forced to open it in front of everyone. While you shiveringly try to open the envelope, your father just tells your aunt what a bright student you are and that he already imagines you to be a worldclass ibanker. THERE IS NO ESCAPE. No escape ? Oh there are several devices... See the advent wreath with its beautifully shining wax candles ? See your cup of coffee ? See the knife (no not for the letter - it could be recreated).

:D

What a horror thriller - just sent the concept to Stanley... ;)

dude this is good stuff...i felt the whole thing myself as i was reading ur post....write some novels man..at least i will buy it

see this is what waiting does to us.... =P

thanks for the kind words sailesh

hope they liked my essays similarly ;) Then the hole thing might rather feel as follows:

After a stormy friday night, I wake up, plagued by a horrifying nightmare and after 3 hours of lying awake in your bed, I hear the bell ring, I open and a big old fat FedEx gives me a biiiiig, fat envelope ... ok let's stop dreaming.

awesome post david.. were you dan brown's apprentice?

No he was mine :D

is it generally done like that? acceptance letters sent in a different manner than deferral or rejection letters?

yes.. otherwise they'd have to fedex hundreds of international applicants.

are we sure its only fedex for accepted in the us as well as for the internationals?

Fedex is only for internationals.

expecto, I think that may be a practice unique to Princeton and the like. I'm not too sure that Duke does it.
