When are the required courses required to be finished by (to transfer)?

For some schools, I am required to have my required courses completed BEFORE the application due date. For example, to apply for a school's fall term, I am required to have all their required courses completed by the previous fall (when the application deadline is). Is this the case with UCLA? I ask, because if it is, it would be very inconvenient and difficult. That would mean that if I decide today, that I want to transfer to UCLA, I wouldn't be able to even begin over there until fall of 2016, the earliest, even if I only needed one more class. Here is an example:

Say that I decide today that I want to be an English major at UCLA. I look in the website, and under the required courses for an English major transfer, I happen to have all of them finished except one class. However, the earliest chance I have to take this one course is in this coming fall semester. Even then, it would be too late to meet the application deadline for next years fall term , since it occurs in November, which is before the fall term this year is even over (so I would still not have that class completed). This means, that I would then have to apply by next year's deadline, for the year after that's fall term. So if I decided right now that I wanted to be an npenglish major at ucla, and only needed one class, the earliest I could hope for is to start in fall of 2016, even if I am done with everything except for one class? This cannot be correct. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

@alreadyinuse I think you’re a little confused. For UCLA, the pre-reqs should be done the spring before, not the fall when you apply. For example, if you’re applying later this year for fall 2015-2016, you would have until Spring 2015 to finish the pre-reqs. it’s best to have all the pre-reqs complete, but there were instances this previous transfer cycle where people were missing a pre-req and were admitted. Hope this helps.

Yeah, @alreadyinuse, I know Ms Sun says that but it is not accurate. Numerous UC advisors have noted that pre-reqs can be IP spring before you go to your campus. However, do make sure the math and English req are done by the fall previous as many UCs require that.
